When I was a child and would visit my grand parents in southern WV, coal mining country, my Pawpaw would take me to churches with him. He didn't care what denomination they were if they were having revival. He taught me to play the guitar and mandolin. He had black lung from the coal mines and couldn't say too many words before having to catch his breath...but every church we went to would ask him to sing...one of his favorite songs to sing was...this song...he has been gone for many years...but I can still hear him singing it.

@@zechariah1398 Longtime Nashville DJ Don Howser (WENO-AM) always closed his Friday show with "Don't send your kids to church on Sunday - take them!" WENO's signal didn't make it to WV but obviously the sentiment did. You're richly blessed. This song made it to Church Gospel Songs & Hymns, probably overall the best Church of Christ hymnal of all time, but like so many of the best old hymns, isn't being included in the newer hymnals that I'm seeing. And we're all the lesser for it.
