As a softcore player I honestly don't mind the whole dying thing and you lose a map. I also like ultimatum and I like soft risk reward stuff. Making deaths more meaningful I think is good overall and for the health of the game. No more 6 portal boss rush and trying to nuke it down a bit at a time. Now we will have to properly build characters but we won't lose the character which I like as I don't have unlimited time to keep releveling and sometimes after work I make mistakes and die when I'm tired etc.

Good thing is they still give more chances to progress since there are more connections between maps. And if you fail all of them I'm sure they have some kinda failsafe where they just put you on a different spot on the atlas with a "new" starting pyramid.

I think HC might be playable for the most part at least in the campaign because of Pause and restart at checkpoint

I agree where the endgame is still "path of exile" take entirely. I don't play HC cause 12 hour shifts most days then come home and die to some dumb bullshit cause my head isn't in the game so the balance they strike here is good! I still hit level 100 in under 2 weeks usually and enjoy challenging my characters I come up with. I also like playing weird builds that "shouldn't" exist to level 90 just to experience weird jank stuff. I like the delve/map system with maps you fail you have to go around a different path to certain things. I like that a lot even as a softcore player. The only thing I am concerned about is getting access to bosses like if an instance crashes or the servers have weird lag that happens in POE 1 that's going to feel really punishing and scuffed especially for the uber casuals or brand new players. I also really am curious if we're going to have transfigured gems cause skills like tornado of elemental turbulence would be so much fun with these graphics especially cause you can have multiple spells.

The endgame is way more streamlined and straight forward. Not easier, or less depth, just the bloat is gone.

They're not going for "Easier", they're going for "Simpler", not same. It's going to be hard as heck, but it won't be as convoluted as PoE1 has become after 13 years of adding mechanics, systems, items, etc.
