Just bought the biggest Hercules grinder harbor freight had. 1hp 8” on sale for $149 for ITC members. Gonna grab an extension and make one side for polishing my small brass screws on the planes I’m restoring. Got a wire wheel for cleaning up the rust too. Thanks for the tips. That extension is going to come in clutch. I don’t have the room for a separate polisher.

That’ll be a great setup, glad you found the video helpful!

There is the issue of generally buffers are lower rpms....some are variable rpms...while this will work, you are really giving up alot....if doing a lot of buffing, I would still recommend a separate variable speed buffer. Thanks for the option, it would be good for some.

Great info, thank you! I recently found an old Baldor 7" 1/2 HP Bench grinder on CL for $350, in your opinion is that a good deal? Seems these are pretty expensive even for the older models so I'm thinking i need to snatch this up, will definitely be buying my extension and wheels from Pryme!!

Glad you found it helpful! $350 does seem a bit steep, especially being only a 1/2 HP. Keep an eye out for a 3/4 HP, it’s more suitable for lots of buffing.
