Cool but I have never had that issue with a mini starter and I have one on my 77 Cordoba 383 and on my 74 Charger 360 and one on my 87 Ramcharger 318.....testing them on the ground is cool but you need to have an amp clamp and meter to see how many amps it's using on no load easy way to see which one is in better shape the one that uses less amps...you can have one that runs fine on the bench but under real load fails and used too many amps.... The longer can rear section is a easy way to spot the heavy duty old style mopar starter too.... Online there are real rebuilt kit to fix the two that fail far better choice than a reman done in China.... Start many times and prosper Mopar grasshopper😂😂😅

I gave them all a good spin except for the bad one that I used for a core on the mini starter. The mini starter fixed my problem and we are back on the road. I have no fancy amp clamp for my meter. This more of a have a pile of starters and I need one that will get me down the road kinda test. The starter that came out of the car worked fine. It made nice half circle marks on the flex plate.

Love it brother keep up the info and hard work in rebuilding a 413 with the long ram intake i have all the linkage except for one spring if anyone wants it let me know it runs like a champ

That 413 cross ram is cool. I was looking at a set of those manifolds they are way too expensive. They look good though.

Yeah, out of those genuine starters, #1 is the winner. We have an issue down under with ring gears and starters. People not taking note, or even knowing they need to, of the teeth count on the ring gear, so they can get the right starter to suit. Why I love using genuine everything where it's possible. Nice little helper video too.

As far as I know all my old stuff uses the same size starter. I did find out I didn't have a bad starter after all. The old style starter has a collar that was hitting my new flex plate. I ended up having to buy a newer style starter. This test showed me the worst stater I turned in for a core.

@@NathansMoparGarage Those big, tough Chrysler starters aren't common down here. Used only on the 62 slant 6, then locally made Bosch direct drive units took their place. When we got the V8 in 65, that was the only application for the Chrysler starter until 1970, when it was replaced by a reduction drive, locally made Bosch unit. That's where we have issues with ring gears, as the Bosch starters have varying gear sizes. 122, 130 and 148 tooth ring gears all need different starters. We don't like to keep things simple 😂🤣
