What war are you in? Americans, you really fantasize about danger. To many cowboy movies.

If the redoubt wasn't coming out soon, I'd have definitely bought one of these despite my general dislike of autos. I really want to get some CPM-D2 to compare to my Dozier in traditional ingot D2.

Yeah I wonder about their "soon". After contacting numerous vendors, and even Benchmade themselves, no one can even give the vaguest hint of when the Redoubt will be out. If it is still that uncertain, I wouldnt expect it out before this fall.

Morse code says "FTE" which means Front Toward Enemy. Should say KLM...Kicks Like a Mule! Thanks Dave.

Ive been carrying this knife for a month or so now. Im gonna say that I bought mine thinking I would really need the lock(its more of a novelty in terms of practicality, but it adds to the fidget factor). The button is built far enough into the handle that you cant open the knife unintentionally. Its a really solid knife that works as my EDC(though it gets switched out every now and then with another knife). The CPM D2 has such good edge retention that Ive only had to sharpen it once since I got it. It hasnt chipped or anything either. 8/10 because of the price.

Totally agree! I can only think of the lock playing a role when jumping from a plane or some such thing where the button could get hit hard... 👍👊🗡️

Such a beta thing to mark something down just because of the price

@@Yeti21173 I dont think its a stretch to think less of a knife for being priced at $260.

Cpm-D2, being distinctly different from D2, as well, since it is finer grained and has better edge holding. 🔥🗡️👍

Being prior military I have several Benchmade autos. The 9400 fires the hardest at least the one in my collection does. I also have a 9600 and a 5700. The 9600 is the second hardest firing then my Claymore and the easiest firing is the 5700. The 9400 is the newest to my collection and it may settle down after using it for awhile. It is also one of the lightest so the felt recoil is based upon its weight I am sure. I do not own a Protech , I do however own a Hawk (superb otf!) And a Benchmade Infidel which are the only OTF autos I currently own. My wife says I have enough knives. I probably do but I always find something new to add to the ever growing collection. I will end up with a Protech, the only problem is the one I want is $1800.00 . So for now I am just fine with the autos I already own.

lol, I would use the lock all the time. I'm the type of person where a table corner or doorknob or something else *will* hit that small button when in pocket, despite the odds.

I could be mistaken, but I believe you can not use any discount codes on Bechmades at White Mountain Knives.

I forgot to also say it is a Cerakote finish on the Crucible powder D2 . People need to understand the difference between a well produced and tempered D2 vs. the Chinese D2 which quite often isn't done . Crucible is a more expensive steel and is a very well respected D2. Also the morse code simply translates to F T E = Front Towarda Enemy. And also I happen to prefer a safety because quite often the buttstock quite often can set off a auto as we usually keep them within our LBV . If you have ever had a auto or any knife open within a pocket then you know just how much fun the removal can be. And people always complain about the lanyard hole in knives. Try to remember these were designed mainly for military use. And when you are on a medivac you are required ( most of the time as it depends on the pilot ) a lanyard is required so you do not accidentally come loose and the worry is a tail rotor being struck. Now the Claymore being a ridiculous plastic ( grivory is just a fancy name for PLASTIC ) wouldn't really do the same damage as say a Presidio II or 7505 and Rukus II auto. Nobody likes lanyards I am just saying in the military they are sometimes required for safety reason no matter how ridiculous it may sound. And as much as I collect knives especially autos I am ashamed to admit I didn't even know Fox made autos. I have to check them out. I mean I have several Benchmades 2 Microtechs ,and now 2 Protechs which I love to death. I even have the early MOD automatic pre Blackhawk which are super nice but heavy. I have an issues Gerber auto which I later put up and went over to the dark side and purchased a few Benchmades. 2 were put up because the ever so much fun sand box we all were playing in was actually more like powder and it was rough and tough on many autos. Last thing I really like this channel. I am happy to be a subscriber. Thank you for taking the time to upload and create these.

I'm thinking about buying this knife but just don't know about a CPM D2 vs a CPM S30V blade. Edit. for my dad would be buying for. My Gerber auto mini has CPM S30V blade, so I know it's good.

"Knife Nerds" is a good place to get a comparison of those two steels. CPM- D2 It's definitely a few notches above ingot D2, for sure!

No. In California an auto beyond 2 inches in blade length is illegal. Just another reason to not live in California.

From Benchmade: "...you can see three letters written in Morse code. The letters are FTE and they are a reference to the “Face Toward Enemy” inscription shown in raised lettering on one side of a Claymore mine."
