Stop worrying about coating. It adds to the patina and is ultimately just a cosmetic bullshit issue.

It is a great knife to be a first high quality one👍 I bet this is also a lot of other peoples gateway knife. The PM2 was mine, I got this one a couple months after that. Thanks for watching

I bought one 12 years ago and it’s one of the best knives I’ve ever bought. I just ordered the one with S30V steel and green micarta replacement scales and a titanium clip it’s going to be BA

Nice review! It's an axis lock, tight with no blade, but does not free fall closed. Loosen it to free fall, but you get side to side play.

I have one with the half serrations ... Mine is free fall loose and no "side wiggle" I did not do anything to it , it came that way, I fidget with it all the time and it has never gotten any looser ....... I will say that if I squat down in jeans, it does almost come out of my pocket ( I do not like that at all ! ! ! )

It’s a great blade shape, and there are always positives and negatives with a thick or thin tip. The grip is a knife that is one of those “timeless designs”, one that will be popular for a very long time.

Have you seen the Flytanium contoured griptilian scales in CF or Ti? I've seen a few complaints about the price(~$125), but I ended up with a 20CV griptilian with fully contoured Ti scales for not too much over $250. Compare that with what $250 gets you from a lot of other companies. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

I’ve never seen those but they sound great. I’ve seen some micarta sales out there but I don’t remember who made them. It would be cool to pimp out my Griptilian with some scales and maybe a regrind👍

@@itsaknifestyle8482 kzbin.info/www/bejne/maPdYmh4nreJe5Y He shows a comparison of the Flytanium contoured titanium scales and a set of Wilkins Combat aluminium scales. Not a very hard choice, if forced to pick one. My first full size griptilian actually came with a set of those WC scales and they were fine, but they turned it into a completely different knife. That perfect, palm filling swell that I get with the griptilian was gone, and they pretty much ruined the way it carried in pocket.

Get the Applied Weapons Tech aluminum handles. I installed the blue handles on my full size Ritter Griptilian in M390 and they turn it into a completely different animal. I e-mailed him the other day and they are going to be making some more of the colors that are out of stock now. Looking at the Sniper Grey with raw aluminum back spacer to install on my full size S30V Grip.

i think the omegas break when people try to pull back with just 1 stub, versus using both stubs. when i got my 940, yes i played with it alot and broke a spring after a month. changed them once and have held up for the last year. but i also use it non stop all day. i believe if you upgrade the scales to after market g10. it would become more firm and remove the blade play. i'm really thrilled with my first benchmade.
@wis1024
@wis1024 4 жыл бұрын
You can get after market springs that are a thicker gauge and far less likely to break. Bm goes for a light feel but the trade of is more delicate springs. Ive had two different instances were my omegas broke but i have a ganzo with thicker springs and ive never had one break and ive used it a lot hard than any of my bms because it was like 25 bucks lol

I've only had omega springs break once. It was on a brand new cf elite bugout that I just got in mail. Think I opened it 3 times. At least benchmade fixed it.

Still can’t decide between this or the bugout as my first folding benchmade. Pretty sure I’ll go with this. As a Spyderco fan boy I’m definitely a fan of the hole for the flick. It also just looks more comfortable to hold. Unfortunately I can’t find either around town here to hold either.

Try 243 Loctite, 242 is not resistant to grease, so if there is a little grease inside the thread, it will not harden. Of course, try to wipe as much of the thread as you can before putting it on. Maybe it's time for new Loctite, my colleague had the same problem, Loctite was left for a long time and it simply lost its properties.

I'm kind of new to the knife world, but this looks like a manix (because of the lock) and the blade looks like a different spyderco knife.

The lock is benchmades lock, the blade is spydercos style, they borrow styles from eachother and sometimes even pay eachother for rights to use one another designs

I now own a griptilian after a whole life of budget blades and it is fucking amazing. Have not sharpened it once and it still cuts like a knife and it has held up to cutting rope and plastic and all sorts of shit. "EDC"(if you use the term EDC you are a toolbag) guys are divas and spend half their time sharpening and interchanging between their 15 different knives. Ad an actual pocket tool and the only tool on my pocket this knife has crushed every single Gerber and Kershaw I've owned. Still has zero play in the blade and still cuts and looks better with age. Buy it now. That's my advice

Ha. I feel like I've actually regressed in the knife world. The full size 154CM Griptilian was probably my first good folding blade. My thirst then continued and I scored the full size Ritter Griptilian in M390 and I added the Applied Weapons Tech aluminum handles, Gerber 06 Manual (plain and serrated) in S30V, Gerber Freeman folder in S30V, Cold Steel Arc Angel, Leatherman K502X, Griptilian in S30V and too many more "super steel" knives to name. Well, they all sit in a drawer now collecting dust because I've gone back to the good 'ole Buck 110. It's heavy which I do not care about. The traditional lock back is strong. You have to add a thumb stud or pocket clip if you prefer to carry in the pocket. I actually got a light aluminum bolster drop point 110 with pocket clip from Copper and Clad if I want to carry it without a pouch. I also have a 2005 Idaho stamp and 1980-81 three dot 440C 110 that I'll carry. But that BOS heat treat on their steels especially 420HC is all you need in my opinion. They are also sharp as hell with that hollow grind edge they put on them. I'll pair it with a 5160 Ontario fixed blade for hiking/camping/backpacking/hunting. Plus the Buck 110 just looks cool. The whole point is if I have to sharpen either the 420HC or 5160 in the field, you don't have to sit through a sharpening session like you would with the "super steels." I do think the Griptilian is becoming a timeless design like the Buck 110 and hope Benchmade never discontinues them. Both the Griptilian and Buck 110 are great introductory knives to the knife world. My only gripe with the full size Grip is the steel liners are only 1/2 of the knife when the mini Grip has full length liners. Also, I will have to say collecting 110's is addictive, especially the 1980-81 111 and 560 Ti.

How can they call this a flat grind when there is clearly a bevel only HALF way up the width of the blade ? it's more like what " I " would call a sabre grind !!
@chrisandsneaky2453
@chrisandsneaky2453 Жыл бұрын
Flat grind just means that the bevels are flat, as opposed to a hollow ground blade, where the bevels are curved inward (concave shape). A sabre grind can be flat ground or hollow ground. The blades where the bevel begins at the very top is called "Full Flat Ground."
