Found your channel thru a mob beauty video and subscribed immediately. I have an olive undertone too, I use a mix of C35, C40 and C45 as I’m never the same shade throughout the year. I’m enjoying your content since it’s not about the new-new. It’s all about the techniques, products, and colors that flatter you! I agree, stick with the tried and true and maybe try something once it’s finished.

I saw Ms. Meghan talk about this, also. It really resonated with me. MAC is my benchmark brand, too. I'm done trying stuff from every brand out there. It's a waste of money. I like MAC and some things from Chanel and I'm good with less products on my desk.

I will be very honest in saying that I have become an “ultra consumer/shopper”. I think this year has just been really challenging bc everything is leaning towards cool tones and I love cool tones. I definitely will be putting myself on a lowbuy next year. I really want to strive to use makeup products up, but not feel like I have to “replenish” that product or replace it with something shiny and new. It’s really hard because I like trying different formulas. Creating my own separate makeup account has definitely helped me with playing around w/ my collection. I’m really trying to shift my perspective and approach to makeup and you have been so helpful with that so thank you 🙏🏼🩷

Alexa, everything you said makes so much sense. Having fewer products spurs creativity because if you don't have the shade you want you need to create it. And using products for more than one purpose (highlighter for face, eyes and lips). Also, if you have a product you love and you know you can count on, why would you go out and buy something else? If a new product is truly innovative and has an improved formulation, then I can see checking it out. But buying something simply because it is new just doesn't make sense. Now I need to confess something: I never paid attention to Ben Nye because I thought it was strictly for stage makeup or special effects. I figured it was heavy and greasy and cakey. Now I know I should look into it closer. Thanks! ❤

Many brands have one or two hero products. Mac has many , it also was the pioneer of many products that we see in many brands today . Mac was and will continue to be my first love. I fell in love with makeup because of mac.

Love the concept of “benchmark brands” so much! For me , I would say … Manasi 7 cream color pots (I think you’d love, a true artistry brand), Lisa Eldridge- mainly for lipstick, Victoria Beckham- for eye liners, Pat McGrath- for eye shadow. For base products- I have been loving tower 28 serum concealer (paired with a glowy liquid highlighter). I guess I have a few but they are tried and true. ❤❤❤

While I was watching the video I was thinking; your family never know what makeup look they are going to see when you walk out of the room! They know that you’re going to look amazing, but that is it😊! I’ve got two benchmark brands, M.A.C and LH Cosmetics. Danessa Myricks is also a brand that I love, but I haven’t tried enough of different products to give it that accolade yet. I really enjoyed this video, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and benchmark brands! 💕

I have been loving your channel and content. You put into words what I have been feeling as well. I’m also trying to downsize and have my core collection.

I would to see you do some looks with darker shadows in your crease and outer corner. A dark gray would look pretty in the crease and outer corner in this look you just did.

Alexa, you are such an inspiration! You have created another gorgeous look. We are learning to love products we already have and think "outside the box" in using them with imagination and creativity. We should apply this tenet to everything we do! It would certainly save us money, which is rare in our high-consumption society, and it stretches our minds and spirits in the best of ways. Thank you for all the work you put into the content that you generously share with us. MAC and Ben Nye, PLEASE recognize what a wonderful and inspirational spokesperson Alexa is for your brands.

Oh I love this look. ❤❤. I have a few “benchmarks “. NARS is one for sure. As is Lancôme. And for blush I do like MAC. I’m just starting to try MOB. There was a blush in a Beautylish bag that I liked. And I bought the MOB Southern Goth this fall. I’m going to find your videos on using it. As it’s a clay cream I have been almost afraid. Sounds silly. But I have older eyelids that have loose skin. But your Clay shadow went on smooth. Thank you for your video.

So, I do follow Shelbey Wilson and I love her content… but, for whatever reason, did not purchase her collab with MOB beauty until now❤️ after watching you use that quad (the grunge look with that olive green just got me!!) and I immediately purchased the quad! It’s supposed to be here Monday(so excited!!) and NOW I just created my first pallet with two cream clay blushes and four cream clay shadows… as a more mature woman cream products have been my thing for a few years now❤ and am super excited to try them!! I just love trying new products/formulas🤷♀️❤️ can’t help it🥰 My benchmark is MAC’s Face and Body and/or Dior Face and Body (Dior has slightly more coverage than MAC but, other than that, they’re basically identical ❤)

I absolutely love all MAC!!! KVD foundation is another favorite. I too am trying to use up other brands that I have and repurchase MAC only when I run out of a product! I was doing good until the holiday collection came out! Some of the duo products were too good of deal not to get because of the savings. I also enjoy the Natasha Denona eyeshadow palettes.

Love your talk on Benchmark Brands Mac is definitely one for me even on my mature skin it's all in how you apply it. I use the 24 hr eye base and love it also use it on my lashes as a eye lash primer before curling them and it works amazing but you have to use very little. I have a face powder RCMA that I keep going back to it' so good and I was so tempted to buy Makeup by Mario new powder with all the hype and I thought why when I have this one that's so good. The hype of all the sales this time of year really bother me soooo many. Anyway your look is so beautiful thank you love your videos they are so refreshing.

I’m think I’m still trying to figure mine out. That’s really also the blessing influencers have - they get to try so much makeup before they get to decide. Natasha Denona though is a benchmark eyeshadow brand for me. Chanel and Dior probably are my benchmark brands within lip liners, lipsticks and foundations. Chanel also with mascara. The rest I’m still figuring out to be honest. Probably the reason why I’m still buying makeup. Because I totally get when you know, you just know and you’re satisfied. That’s exactly how I feel about by Natasha denona concealer. I don’t need to try anymore concealers. I’m satisfied and love it.
