Im gonna say goff is almost elite. His play action play and fakes are by far some of the best in the league. His arm strength is under rated as he can heeve the ball at least half the field. Just look at the td pass to jamo last week. I also think his mobility is under rated. He has shown he will run and take those yards if they are there. But ihe is a pocket passer so the sack is more likely. His ball placement isn't quite the best but he hits that "catchable ball" window more than not. Just look at the jamo td pass last week.

I think Tua has proven he needs to be higher at this point. Yes he has elite weapons and a good system. But a good QB is part of a good system. It is reliant on Tua's processing both pre and post snap and his lightning fast release to work. Oh and despite the narratives, hes been one of the most effective deep ball throwers in the league over the last two years. Reminder that people called Tom Brady a system qb for years. Another reminder: Mahomes also has a top offensive system, one of the best tight ends of all time, and had the same elite WR1 as Tua during his early progression.

Jordan Love, Brock Purdy (maybe), and CJ Stroud all have reasons to go higher, and players like Trevor Lawrence could probably go a bit lower. I'd also love to know where you'd stick Minshew and Flacco after this interesting backup season.

As a patriots fan, I denied the fact that Tua was a great QB all of last year, but after seeing what he’s done so far with the dolphins this year as well as letting his last season sit, I cannot deny that this guy is elite. He’s on pace to have an MVP season while leading nearly every QB stat.

Jalen… has one great season with a stacked team and a lot of mediocrity outside of that season. At best he belongs in the high upside but I don’t know yet tier. The fact that he gets worshipped as Elite despite all the advantages that Brock has is a joke. He’d be worse than Fields in Chicago.

He only got held back by said injury last season. I wouldn't put him in elite because the argument that he has great weapons is valid, but he is almost elite for sure, and imo he is above Rodgers.

If you’re gonna ignore Burrow having mistakes with a calf injury then you gotta ignore Allen having more mistakes after partially tearing his UCL last year and playing through it. Plus a UCL injury to a QB is way worse and Allen still put up fairly decent numbers compared to Burrow after his injury

There's a reason the Packers haven't given him shots earlier, and he didn't ever play elite this year... He played the Bears. And even then underthrew and overthrew 90% of his throws.

In my respectful opinion, Brandon, Purdy has shown he got that Dawg in him unlike Kirk and Geno and Stafford as of now, only losing one game in his career, the one being without his two star players and still driving them down the field for the kicker’s game-losing missed kick. Purdy’s one struggle as we saw last week was rain, a fumble and an interception, his first of the season. In good weather games, he has practically been perfect, setting the single game completion percentage record for the Niners and having the 4th All Time! He set records in Iowa State, and has been playing in the same tier as anyone from Joe Burrow to Tua Tagovailoa, to at worst, Dak Prescott. At least top 10 qb in the league, with his weapons.

I don’t think you’re giving Goff quite enough credit. He’s was inconsistent with the Rams, but for the past couple of years it has really felt like he has been knocking on the door to the elite tier. He’s not flashy, but he also doesn’t really make mistakes. I think you could have gotten more use out of the Almost Elite tier in general. Tua and Stafford also feel like they belong there, especially Stafford.

Purdy, Tua, and Goff were disrespected BIG TIME on this tier list, all of them need to be in the "almost elite" tier and I would take all of them over Lawrence and Rodgers rn Sure they are in great situations, Purdy and Tua have elite weapons and systems, Goff has an elite O line and a team full of dawgs But a team is only as great as their QBs take them: and all these QBs are winning games, leading great offenses, and they're quite literally numbers 1, 2, and 3 in quarterback ratings this season... if being at the top of the MVP conversation doesn't put you in at least the "almost elite" tier, I don't know what does

I think one of the main problems with J Herbert is that he's not shown any measurable growth since his rookie year. He was a pretty good, B+/A- quarterback his rookie year, and 3-4 years later he's still pretty much right there.

Mahomes does not have the best arm in the league, his deep ball is average, the only thing special about mahomes arm is the magic he makes with it, and we haven’t even seen that in a while. It’s not like he has a cannon like Josh Allen or Herbert.

I think you're wrong about Dak not where you ranked him but rather that he hasn't been the same since his ankle. Before that he constantly overthrew or threw behind receivers, since then he hasn't been any more accurate. I also get the impression sometimes that he can't read defenses. He's a warrior and gets the most out of his limited ability, but yeah at 40M a year, no thanks.

Jared Goff was second in pass attempts, second in pass completions, and second in passing yards last season. He was fourth in passing TDs. I think he is at least almost elite at this point, with an argument that can be made that he is Elite. Keep in mind, he did this while the lions had the best running back duo in the league.

Great tier list! You sold me with the Herbert placement, I don’t think he generally gets enough credit. My biggest gripe is the Dak Prescott placement, I think “You’re Not Upset” would’ve been better for the time this video was released. That might be because of my Chicago Bears QB goggles and recency bias. Again, great list. I would watch another updated list at the end of the season with all QBs that started at least one game. The Joe Flacco tier will replace the Patrick Mahomes tier!

One of my few good calls was saying that Mac Jones was going to struggle to improve on his rookie season. The problem was he didn’t have any obvious flaws, his completion percentage was outstanding and had very respectable yards per attempt. You’d think that’d be a good thing, but I read that more as there weren’t any areas were obvious improvement could be made and to get substantially better, he’d have to completely reinvent his game. Instead, he got saddled with defensive coordinators as his offensive coaches and I think he started to press a bit. I agree that in a better situation he could be at least decent but his predraft assessments ended up being mostly right on, high floor, low ceiling. It’s just that the floor around him has collapsed.

Statistically he had his best year the year after his ankle injury, and if you’re gonna put Cousins in the “you’re not upset” category, then Dak deserves to be right next to him seeing as they’re basically the same QB except Dak is younger and has shown more upside in his career.

Hey Brandon, great video! I thought the tier list was really good! The only thing i wasnt the biggest fan of but is my personal preference is Burrow over Allen. Now i get that Burrow has been injured this year but i think if im not mistaken hes been at 85-100% healed for a few weeks now. And we could say the same thing about Burrows struggles this year for Allens struggles last year when he was injured as well. Plus, Joe Burrow has had elite talent around him since he came into the NFL, Josh hasnt and was a more raw prospect. Plus Joshs rushing ability is insane along with him having the strongest arm in the league. In 2021 when they were both healthy, Josh Allen was better but it was still close. They are both incredible, and are interchangeable at 2 and 3 and can make an argument for being #1 as well.

@Babylonian-Cowboy the only reason i would put Either Allen or Burrow over Mahomes is because of there record against him. They combined since 2021 are 5-2 against him. Allen does a hell of a lot more with less around him than either Burrow or Mahomes and is the best dual threat qb ever to play in the nfl. Hes has a mix of Burrows and Mahomes’ best traits all into one player, with the size and smarts of Peyton Manning and the gunslinger mentality of Brett Farve. where Burrow is a more accurate passer than Mahomes and Allen. What does Mahomes do better than Allen or Burrow other than be carried by a team that is filled to the brim with talent and has the best coach in the nfl.

As a Broncos fan, I think that either Sean Payton will get more out of Russell Wilson, or they’re going to cut him and draft a quarterback. What I think they need to do is upgrade the offensive line and figure out how to get Marvin Harrison Jr. Trade your 2025 first round pick along with whatever top 10 pick you get this year to move up to number two. Obviously I’m assuming that they don’t have some kind of crazy turnaround this year.
