@BenDeach I am curious about the problem of being at a table with more maniacs than other players. Understanding that this table was "shitty" for being lower levels of action, what is your advice when sat at a table where the action is borderline chaos? I play at a table locally where this occurs maybe once every couple of months. The table mixture hits the right formula and suddenly our 1/2 is playing like 5/10. I do not claim to be ready for those stakes and I know I can simply walk away, but what would be another option? Be the nit? Be strictly tight?
@Mathemagical5526 күн бұрын
You made exactly the same mistake as a few vlogs ago, raising a nutted draw (Ah6h) in position and folding to the reraise. Your diagnosis that you call too often and need more raises there is correct but you've picked totally the wrong hand to raise with. You use the best of your discards as bluffs, not solid nut draws.
@Caspergomezz25 күн бұрын
I agree better to keep worse draws in when you’re drawing to the nuts, you make more coolering someone for 100+bb then raising against a bettor when it’s unclear whether there’s fold equity. Also with a small suited ace you unblock the qj j10 kq k10 of ❤ type of hand

19:50 I argue: Fold AK on turn! One guy has FH (A5), the other has FH 22. If nothing, one of them would swallow Ak like strawberry!
@iTzTrouble725 күн бұрын
The biggest reason you should 3 bet the AK pre is to condense their range. They may not be in there with dueces or A5 suited after you put in a big 3 bet. If they are a lot of times they will miss.

I enjoy playing against tougher players. I play 2/3 and 3/5 in Arizona and there's some really good players in those games. The 2/3 $1000 cap with 100% match the stack can get some big stacks for a 2/3 game but how will I ever play 5/10 against even better players if I were to be afraid of better players....
@TheNow_Now24 күн бұрын
Man that AK is like one of the worst hands Ive ever seen played 😂😂😂
@Jermo48425 күн бұрын
You should have made it like $275 pre with AK. Who cares if they think you're making a move? You're ahead almost always. Not 3 betting means you have literally no clue what their range can be - they could have 43s, 55, 22, A2s, A5s, AT, TT full combos.
@TheNow_Now24 күн бұрын
Yeah idk where he is getting his sizings from. It was a limp, raise to 50, and flat on button. At least 4x oop+call, so 275/300 is fine, if they are 2k effective. Making it 175 would be so terrible 😂😂 lol and not accomplish anything. It's funny that Ben complains about OMCs and then plays this hand like a mega OMC complete with just the donking right out with it lmao

You've used "going north" to mean reraising. I thought "going north" meant adding to your stack in the middle of a session, as opposed to "going south" (which is taking money off the table)

It does mean that. But I also used it here for whatever reason

I don’t understand the A-J fold. You called the big raise……hit the best possible outcome and fold?
@Jermo48425 күн бұрын
One pair on JT9 isn't vaguely close to "the best possible outcome". He's drawing almost dead against AA, JJ, TT, 99, KQ, 87 - all of which they can definitely have - multiway.
@CarbonPower25 күн бұрын
Why call with A-J if not to hit your J with top kicker? I’m feeling better about hitting my J than if I hit my A lol. Definitely not folding to a single C bet when hitting exactly what I wanted.
@Jermo48425 күн бұрын
@CarbonPower uh, it's AJ suited. Top pair is by no means the best thing you can hope for. You win MASSIVE pots with trips, two pair, straights, flushes. And even as far as top pair goes, this is literally the worst you could have flopped besides JT9 monotone. They have tons of two pair, sets and straights.
@CarbonPower25 күн бұрын
@ goodness gracious my man. Did he flop the world? No? Do we fold every hand we don’t flop sets or trips or open ended straight flush draws on? No. He flopped the best he was going to. Period. Top top. Every poker players dream to flop top top every hand smh
@Jermo48425 күн бұрын
@CarbonPower he flopped the best he was going to? He never flops two pair? Trips? Straights? Flushes? Pair plus flush draw? Pair plus straight draw? Massive combo draws? Top top on a much dryer board? I can think of literally 500 better flops

It’s hilarious. Calling a 3 bet with aj then hitting top top and then folding to one bet on the flop? And he wonders why the games aren’t good he won’t put in money without the super super nutz
@victorfrankenstein5020226 күн бұрын
OK, guess I’m here first…blow my mind Ben. Wow, with top-top (AJ), and getting 4 to 1 on the call, you lay that down? Yes I saw the result, but those odds at least justify a call to see the turn card. I guess you really didn’t need that $1,000. Aaarrgh, you raise the A6 of hearts after hitting a flush draw on the flop…and your opponent is building the pot for you. I can see betting out yourself to build the pot if you hit, but bluff-betting yourself right out of the pot is painful to watch. Finally, your foolish $50 call with AK, failing to isolate, almost cost you your stack, but you wisely surmised that you were definitely not in 1st place with top set and King kicker. Cost yourself a bunch, but ultimately saved a bunch too.

I'm folding that AJ every single time. How many clean outs did you really have? Bummer runout, but absolutely the right fold! I folded QQ to a board of AKx. Runout QQ. Would have been bad beat. But I was dead except for BOTH queens to AA. The way it goes sometimes!

You simply jam pre with AK in a bounty spot + dead money in the pot. I know it’s a ridiculous overjam but nobody can call you, why not take the free money since you’re obviously scared money preflop/postflop? Even if someone calls you it’ll be a flip at worst.
@mikedick703326 күн бұрын
So pushing 1900 into the middle to win 100 sounds like a good play to you? People can still have KK or AA even though you have AK. So by no means it’s a flip at worse and even if it is you wanna flip for that much. I mean if he has 500 in front of him of course but almost 2k. That’s big time losing play
