A handful of times when I was a teen, my dad got me those chicken/lamb over rice platters and idk what happened but I just never really tried them again. Fast forward to the end of 2021 i got covid and it messed up my sense of taste and I ended up being repulsed by a lot of food that I used to love, especially certain meats and spices, even chicken and eggs. In 2023 I tried one of those lamb over rice platters once or twice and it was pretty good. Then on new year's day 2024 I was extremely hungover to the point that I was laying on the floor, throwing up and damn near crying. I decided to try one of those food trucks, a different spot near my girlfriend's place at the time, got the lamb over rice as well as some vietnamese coffee from a nearby pho joint. After eating and drinking, I almost felt like crying tears of joy. It was a blessed feeling for sure, and that food truck turned into a regular spot for me and today i'm eating all kinds of foods again and feeling like i don't have to be as picky about what I order.
