Probably the most detailed version of how to bend sides . You actually let us know what the feel of what you're looking for... thanks

Some good info man! Thanks for the detail. I’m working on an A style mandolin. I’ll try an F style at some point, but that scroll bend makes me nervous 😅

Just dive in the deep end! It takes a lot of messing up on scrap to get it dialed in. Might as well start now!

Cool! 😆 Is there a sound sample or video of the violin that you made? Thanks! 😎🎻

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to get a sound sample done of the violin. Just so many hours of the day.

Great Video. Simple, effective and informative. What is the temperature of the iron? would you do anything differently with highly figured maple rim? In your prep for bending do you chamfer the edges and sand the surface?

Hey Honestly, I heat the element on highest setting and then turn it down one “click”. If I’m using propane torch and a piece of pipe, I’ll just hear it until water turns to steam immediately. Different woods are thicknessed a bit differently. The more figure the more you have to aware of grain run out and cross grain patterns. I don’t pre-soak wood. Some do. I’m general, I’ll thickness sides to 0.085”-0.100”…depending on wood species. Hope that helps some!
