Couldn't they get any Scottish actors to play in this? I've never heard anything like it, although I did pick up a bit of an Irish twang now and then. I'm not Scottish, but this was painful even for me to listen to.

That's why I like it. It's mostly Americans who've never ever been to Scotland trying to act like how they think Scots should act. The 'Loch' is entirely the wrong geology for Loch Ness and what the hell is a coastguard doing on an inland Loch? If you're fond of cheese it's wonderful. Plus it must be the most imaginative Jaws rip-off I've ever seen. You can almost match it plot point for plot point.

What is it with Americans that they think their very poor fake accents sound real and not absolute rubbish. As for the rest of the film it is unbelievable, right from the way fire works are so readily available at anytime outside of Oct early Nov in Britain, to the Coast Guard on an inland loch and the fact that the Coast Guard are using depth charges and the fact that they actually have a launcher for them. Yet not a hint of the environmental impact and the protests and protesters threat it would stir up not just from the local population but the world. Note that in Britain/Scotland there is not the culture to shoot or blow up everything you don't understand/scared of for a start there is a lack of explosives/guns and political will to Blow up/Shoot every thing you come across (and it's expensive as well ;-} When are Americans going to learn that they can not portray other nationalities and their accents for a start most Americans do not understand other country's so there for can not portray them well. The out come is all ways that you are just watching an alternant America.

Depends what part of Scotland. if its highlands then it will be a pictish Gailic accent. if its lowlands then it will be more irish cause the lowlands were taken over by the irish scotti tribe. The Scotti lost a war against the eira tribe in Ireland and got thrown out so tried to invaded Dummonia now south west UK. but coulnt get ashore due to the celtic army and navy waiting for them. so they headed north and found an undefended place on the Clyde river and landed there and built Glasgow and expanded out from there pushing the picts into the highlands. the Scotti renamed pictland Scotland. In Pre Roman times it was England Scotland and Wales being called the emerald isle not Ireland. and celts lived all over Europe except Ireland. the irish refused to stop fighting each other and refused to have 1 god which is the conditions of being celtic. the irish main god was Maab the celtic god was Gaia. which in English is mother earth.

Loch Ness as far as I learned is a Saltwater lake, it has an entrance in and out of the area, some have reckoned that if anything is in the loch it can exit out to sea Thr people in that area do not speak with the typical Scottish dialect, it is a soft lilting sound because they speak Gaelic it surprising that Glasgow area was once inhabited by Anglo Saxons!!!! The scene that made me laugh is when they have a model of Nessie as if it had not been tried before, people were always making joke of Nessie, The legend has been known of from over thousand years ago , itvwss seen in Medieval times,

Sorry, Loch Ness is the biggest body of freshwater in the uk, containing more water than all of Englands water supply. The area is large and it's deeper than The North Sea. Enters The North Sea at Inverness,via The River Ness, minimal flow through The Caledonian Canal. Given that there's a weir on The River thats never produced a sighting, doubt She migrates.
