I think Paimon's "Let's explore the area ahead of us later" line was a lot more common back when this quest first came out, because the map was a lot small and it was easier to bump into the boundary.

I love the fact that Venti Barbatos likes sitting on the hands of the statue because (quite probably) reminds him of when he was still the tiny Wisp who sat on the hands of Venti (?) the human bard.

Venti's story quest brings so much nostalgia to me, and it's still one of my favorite quests. I know one critique with the stories in the game is it can focus too much on the NPCs than the playable characters. I think this story quest is one of the ones that best utilizes NPCs to flesh out not only the playable character but the larger world building itself. This is one of the simple stories that is elevated by incorporating these other elements and executing them well, and an example of the world of Teyvat is not just a setting but a character. It's not necessarily bad to have NPCs be the focus as much as it's important on how it's executed. I just keenly remember my emotions from the start to the end of the quest. From 'this is cute' to 'where's this going' to 'omg Stanley and Barbatos as an Archon for real' to the cherry on top that was Venti's backstory. It really sold me on the idea of 'there's potential here' out of all the launch game material.

I totally agree that they should've changed Stanley's scripts after this quest. The npc should also just be renamed to Hans Archibald after this quest. Thankfully, the later quests get better at this. Mostly world quests though. Personally, I'm expecting a Mondstadt expansion to come between 5.3 and 5.7 (because I expect to get to Snezhnaya we'll take a ship from Dornman Port), and I would expect Venti's second story quest to come out with it. I also think the story of Decarabian's death is sus for a number of reasons and think he's probably not actually dead but just sealed or something, and he'll be the weekly boss introduced in that quest.

1:09:36 I just wanted to say that his dialogue does change if you speak to him after the quest. You can ask him if he's doing alright, and he'll reply that he's doing fine, but that the din of the bar can get him down, and he'll pick himself back up for Stanley's sake

Yes I am aware of this. 'scripted' doesn't necessarily mean dialogue. I'm referring more to character actions. He's still standing in the same spot looking drunk/mopey repeating 'Stanley'. The Dialogue does indeed change, but it'd be cool if he could appear to be more hopeful in stance at least, or maybe even be in a different spot in Mondstadt.

Yes, I believe it was the 'Endless Suffering Short Trailer'. Although I didn't mention it in this video, I decided to name it 'Beneath the Mask' as a call back to that statement that Venti makes. :)

After doing all sumeru quest and knowing about that place. This Venti quest made so much sense, especially about the contraption. I get this feeling that there is so much that happens in this game that links to sumeru, feels like sumeru is an important place lore wise maybe?

What I like about this quest is we actually get a little more insight into what nirmana (that Lisa built a detector for) is in Sumeru.

I really love your enthusiasm for Genshin and how much you are enjoying the story. The Genshin fandom can be extremely negative and full of people who seem to hate the game and all you ever see in sites like facebook and twitter is negative comments, so it really is a breath of fresh air to see someone who genuinely likes it. I'll be honest the distance of traveling is something that's always kind of bothered me in genshin as it always stays kind of inconsistent, sometimes it takes days, sometimes barely a couple minutes to travel what looks like the same distance, it's a bit weird. I've seen some videos of some people walking across all the available area and it does indeed take multiple days of travel but yeah, I'm hoping this is something that finally gets solved with the genshin anime since looking at the environments in the teaser it looks huge. The first time I REALLY noticed it was in Childe's story quest(though it might've been fixed since I did it), the distance they traveled there just seemed completely wrong no matter what the game told me. Venti is one of the characters I don't use even though he was my first limited character. His ultimate just trivializes 90% of the content that's not just big monsters to the point of making it boring for me, I love him as a character and he is incredibly strong in game, but I choose not to use him for that reason, he's been sitting at lvl 70 or something for years haha, everytime I attempt to use him I remember why I benched him in the first place. Favorite instrument? probably drums, when played exceptionally it always makes me hyped up on literally any song ever, I want to learn to play them too but never really got the push to do so. Completely agree that they should've changed stanley's position in the overworld at least, even his lines to better match what happens, they are better at doing this later but it's unfortunate they haven't fixed it here, It's not like they are completely opposed to changing early stuff, next update they're finally making the early farming domains of mondstadt and liyue easier/match what we have right now, I just PRAY that they fix some more mondstadt stuff whenever they finally release an expansion for it(copium) Anyways a great quest nonetheless, I really just like quests where we help some random strangers, it makes the world and npcs feel a lot more alive, Stanleys voice acting was awesome but yeah the voice mixing was lacking unfortunately... But Venti's backstory and lore drops were AMAZING!

The distance between things flat out doesn't make sense, as is whatever distance it needs to be to tell their story (which is a lazy cop out) but it is what it is I guess. I used to play the drums, they were fun. I never got good though since finding the time to practice was tough. I mean, imagine if they at least changed his name to Hans! That at the very least would have been cool. They still technically could. They won't, but could. Overall the quest was shaky at best BUT it built up to something great, which I appreciate and was very happy to experience.

Genshin has made such small changes in the world later on in the game but yeah even if Hans' dialogue does change a bit after story, one thing which i'd love to see is if they changed his name or made it from Stanley to "Stanley". Even subtle changes like this can do wonders. But nevertheless even if some players do say that they don't like Venti's SQ because it was more NPC focussed, in my opinion that itself is another reason which makes it even better. Because the NPCs involved in this quest aren't really quest-exclusive random ones, many if us probably interacted with them many times before this quest too moreover the parallel storytelling of Stanley's story and Venti's story is what makes it great too. Sometimes even parallel storytelling feel woderful.

Why do you think Venti is drinking so much? Is it because of the "german theme" of Mondtstadt and the developers just thought "Ah well, we could just aswell have an alcoholic archon just for fun." Or do you think Venti is just compensating for something; If not his lost friend 2600 years ago, maybe a decision he tries to drown in beverage for a future event, knowing something bad is going to happen due to his actions, but it´s to late to turn the tides for the upcoming event. Favourite Instrument is probaly the Violin and Piano too! Thanks for the Video =)

Fun fact: Fact Lisa was a top student in the Sumeru academia. So her making contraptions isn't out of the question. At the time I played this quest what felt so weird to me was that this item could show you peoples imaginary friends. I thought it was just a weird plot device. However now knowing everything I know about Sumeru it's not even the weirdest this that came out of it :D

btw Some people have deciphered the text at the bottom of Venti's statue and because of what it says some now believe the statue is a portal to Celestia. So my theory is that we'll get his second story quest in 6.8 or 7.8 right before we get into Celestia. Also you probably know this, but just in case you don't you can sit in the spot Venti was sitting at the end there on the statue. A lot of people used that as a lucky wishing spot back in the day (don't know if they still do).

One other Mondstadt city NPC goes thru a change .. and that change stays after the event. ps: i'm looking forward to your analysis-as-the-story-progresses style in the Hydro Archon Quest .. probably about 128 episodes from now.

Yes. I'm in Mondsadt enough to notice, and I checked to make sure as well. He has different Dialogue, and although more 'hopeful' he's still sounding pretty sad and looking drunk.
