sam kills as a form of therapy. everything is clean and neat and nothing she does is personal. nigel kills because he feels hard done by. everything is messy and brutal and it seems to be personal vendetta against the victim. the only thing similar about them is that they kill for satisfaction. but they're not the same, as nigel would hope.

8:15 the look of acceptance or even contentment here makes me wonder if she subconsciously feels she deserves such a fate after all her sins, or if she sees herself being what her victims are to her for the bears. A release/relief, even if only for a while. The bears could symbolize the town/crowd of people she imagines would punish her for her crimes as well. Anyone have any theories?
@TeasilaNova4 ай бұрын
blood in dreams is often a sign of guilt, the more of it the more guilt, from the dreamer. dreams have a nasty habit of being punny as well-- so, the whole bears mauling her i see it as she can't *bear* it if her crimes where exposed. and that's not even getting into the gritty of the start of the dream from her openly holding the painted hand, to parade and the forest cutting open the duck-- just chalk full of symbolism. thou naturally dreams parallels what our waking lives are like and what we want. so how much of it is just the author recapping her problems/wants or has deeper foreshadowing of her character remains to be seen. i surmise for the character it's most likely a stressed induced dream coping with her secret being semi out in the open.
@robotx92853 ай бұрын
I don't think she feels any remorse for her crimes. She has a massive fear of loosing control over the life she wants to live, she aware of the logic behind how these people emote and how that interacts with their morals. But she can't innately engage with those emotions, she can only mimic them, and figure out the consequences that comes with misusing them.
@TeasilaNova3 ай бұрын
@@robotx9285 dreams are pretty emotional experiences in my humble opinion, especially when they're nightmarish. i think if she had no guilt there wouldn't be as much of her blood as well as her victim's blood pools in the same dream. then again might be mirroring her life experiences with how much blood she's handled before. thou it's possible she's trying to mirror what she thinks the town would do to her if they found out on subconscious level. like-- they'd maul her for her crimes if they knew. while still feeding emotionally back into being potentially being catch. since one person knows how many more could know hence the audience in the forest? i do agree this dream is most likely caused by the rug pull out from under her and her fears fuel this nightmare.
@marbear91164 ай бұрын
I get that she's stressed about the murders and all, but I agree with Nigel. She should have been nicer to him, if only until she turns him in to the police. After all, if he's been watching her, well, he could do exactly what he did, in fact, do
@rumbleroller21544 ай бұрын
I get where she was coming from though. The murdering was her own personal hobby, whatever it was to silence the voices in her head. So she's not only freaking out because she got caught, but on top of that, someone wants to join in on it. Deep down she probably finds her hobby appalling. So to find someone who's a supposed 'kindred spirit' wasn't the response she was looking for. All she wanted to do was find him, tell him not to do it in town, then move on with her life. She's aware her hobby is sick, and her outburst reflects it.

I think that like she says, she doesn't understand what people feel, and gets by by mimicing what society expects, but otherwise she only thinks of herself. Her entire existence as a person is a facade, the only REAL her is the fraction of a moment he saw when she's killing. Compared to a life time of pretending that's NOTHING, yet Nigel has constructed this entire narrative/fantasy in his head when he truthfully has NO idea who Sam really is under the surface.

I think she's got a good chance to turn this all around on him,she left regardless of knowing of what happened to her worker wich makes it seem suspicious since she left after a crime was comited in her store but also cans filled with body parts where also found the police would probably do DNA test and put 2 & 2 together and it would make sense it would be her right?Well it does and everyone would probably think it was her specialy if she doesn't keep a cool head.During the interrogation she could just plead ignorance and greef knowing her friend was killed whether the cops belive this or not it doesn't really matter ones the questioning starts it's just about answering a few questions and nudging the cops twards the real killer sure the rat took a picture of her and probably planed to use this as evidence that she knew what happened and left he could say that but it would just be more suspicious on his part and all she needs to do is lie how is he going to prove eny of this.The cops will probably be more intrested in the paint cans filled with severed body parts,sure it's her paint cans and her business & the body's are from people in the city but think about it doesn't it seem a little too obvious the people in the town know her they think of her as nothing but a trusted friend & local.Ehat I'm trying to say is normally with cases like this the murderer is usually someone that isn't from the community sure she gets out of Town sometimes but she's not the only person that does this after nudging enough hints the cops will come to the natural conclusion and start believing that all this might just be a set up & she's got an aliby one of her nabors knew she was at her house that night something the guy didn't count on.
