Damn that was close. I'm still amazed by the level that Duda has risen to!

It’s not even whether he has or hasn’t risen to a higher level, it’s that he NEEDS TO. Think about it, the German team overall is kind of bleak looking when it comes to young prospects. Timo healthy isn’t playing to the same standard and his renaissance over the last 4-6 years is coming to a close. We have a few more years out of Dima but he hasn’t played that wonderfully since coming back from his injury. Ruwen Filus is a defender who doesn’t place top 8 on big tournaments. Kay Stumper is not good enough to play internationally yet and be consistent. So let’s hope Duda dos da thing and continues to get better.

@oneeyed_king69annifa27 this is true but he definitely needs to keep growing. Played really well last tournament. Didn’t mention Fransizka either but I do feel like he is inconsistent.

Franziska has great capabilities but I feel he struggles unfortunatley mentally. Thats a pitty because he is technically and powerwise he is in germany top 2 and can compete with asian players on his top level. i dont know if height plays a role because you might need 100 procent fitness to keep up yout footwork and level but i feel its mainly mentally.. Loosing in the last World cup in south africa against i think geraldo, is a poor result if you consider yourself a top20 player trying to reach the top. I really wish him good results to get momentum but he is already30 years old, so times run up @@whatevereyewantop2

Harimoto plays great short game and defense to limit Duda's attacks, which is something other JPN players should learn from in order to not lose to Duda in the future

Incredible comeback by Harimoto in the first set, even though he lost that set. He remains the biggest threat to Chinese dominance in TT

I think its not.. they Destroy him.. Wang Chuqin is completly on different level. He is faster then Harimoto and he play topspin not block game..

Is it just my perspective or does Duda really produce a ton of underspin. I mean, even Harimoto put the ball into the net several times. Quite surprising, I think.

is tt popular in German or not why it can not produce talents consistentnly, it should have large talent pool. what are top5 popular sports in german

Germany does produces talents consistently, however Dima and Timo have been above everyone for more than one decade, they have had all the spotlight so it seems like germany does not produce many players

In germany, likely every village has a tt team or share a tt team with their neihgbour villages. Also villages with 1.000 people or less. TT is very popular in germany compared to other european countries. But no chance against china of course. And Harimoto is a huge talent too. Japan missed those big players for a long time now. I think germany got some kind of a vacuum after Boll isn´t at the top anymore. Franziska developed a bit inconsistent unfortunately. He already beat Fan Zhendong, Ma Long and also Xu Xin as the only player alive. (beat them at big tournaments) Dang Qiu at least beat Liang Jingkun shortly. Kay Stumper is still very young and has a few years left to develope. As a Team, germany is very strong. But at the moment, a real top 10 is missing. Besides Bolls performance against Jang Woojin, who had literally no chance yesterday!

Boll and Ovtcharow are the gatekeepers and "old..a whole generation didn't have the chance to play on an international level, so of course many names unknown..
