My con for capsule wardrobes is that they are a pain-in-the-ass to keep clean. I wash similar items together. So once a month I do a button-up wash and iron day. If I would have a capsule wardrobe, I need to wash a single or two button ups every week. I'm a thriftaholic with 25 capsule wardrobes I guess. I buy nothing new, yet there is such an abundance of nice stuff for peanuts out at goodwill.

This is so helpful! I’ve been attempting a “pseudo” capsule wardrobe for a little while now, but I found that I’d get discouraged by thinking I had to follow “rules” of stark, neutral color palette with colors that are too harsh for me, and going on Pinterest leads you to believe you can only have a certain number of pieces in your closet. Sometimes I’m wearing multiple outfits a day and it was just not suiting my lifestyle to have such a narrow selection. I really appreciate your advice. I am learning that have some bins in rotation is what helps me, so that I can switch up my pieces without overwhelming my closet space, and discovering my personal style with intentional shopping and getting away from fast fashion has been such a blessing!

Moving from fast fashion can be so difficult, but it’s such a good way to build a quality wardrobe. I agree, so many capsule wardrobes are way to focused on the numbers! They’re a good guide or starting point, but don’t need to be concrete rules. Your wardrobe needs to be practical, suit your lifestyle and represent your style-over anything else. They take time to get right 🌈
