Sida acuta is a shrub that belongs to the family Malvaceae (same family with Corchorus olitorius ewedu).Though perceived to be a weed; it has found both recognition and use in healthcare dispensation in many parts of the world. It is called OSEPOTU in Yoruba. Some research reports have shown that the ethanol extract of the plant is effective against the venom of certain snake species.
