I've had the gun for awhile now and love it!! . I use it for duck's , rabbit and Migratory bird .I find it lighter to carry then other shotguns and even my buddies are jealous lol

Nice review. I do notice that Benelli have listened to feedback and have improved some features of this gun over the past few years. Initially the safety set automatically on reload, and many didn't like this. Now it is manual slide on action (with an automatic option available). The 828 U Sport has only the manual slide on action. The 828 U Black edition is a very sexy version of this gun.

@@wingmen_eastmans I've now read the manual for the Benelli 828U and I see that it is possible to remove the spring fitting that actuates the automatic safety (if it is set), or to add the fitting if you want it set. I wonder why so many complained about it a couple of years beck, if it could always be adjusted by the owner or if that was updated by Benelli more recently. I have a Benelli Power Bore Semi-Auto, but I'll certainly get a 828 U Black edition just for some skeet shooting and for the occasional private hunt where they frown on semi-autos (nuts hey). I would like to see the spreads on a board shooting 76mm and 70mm shells and the various chokes.

Hello I just got my 828U today and it shot very well on the clays course.I noticed the full choke and improved modified is not recommended for steel shot. Is that the norm for most shotgun chokes? I used to duck hunt and it seemed like I used the full choke on my old Winchester pump.

Yes, those chokes are too tight for steel. Shoot the IC and Mod combo. Steel patterns tighter than lead and many other non-toxics. With IC and Mod you'll knock their bills off!

Extremely reliable... we've punished that thing. Couldn't even get it to fail in -20 Degree Fahrenheit temperatures while goose hunting.

My Benelli 828U opens in the shot. Thank you Benelli. This is a serious malfunction right after the guarantee is over and after only 2.500 shots in Trap-shooting with regular cleaning and maintenance. Crappy gun!
