I have the Performance Shop 12 gauge with 30 in barrel. I love this gun. The Briley trigger is really sweet and the back boring and extended forcing cone makes for an even smoother and softer recoil, especially with the 6oz counterweighted forearm cap. My go-to choke is the Briley LM that comes with the gun. I shoot frequently with a Krieghoff owner and he usually shoots a couple of stations with my Benelli because he enjoys the feel and the cycling action. I don’t think these are made anymore but if you can get one second hand, I recommend it.

It is interesting to watch your recent review of this gun, as this has been my go to gun since I purchased one new in 2009. I think your review accurately describes the many strengths (and few weaknesses) of the gun. Yes, the plastic furniture is tacky, but does get the job done. As you probably know, there is a version of the gun (the Sport II) with wood furniture. And yes, the inertia cycling system (as well as the shell feed system) are both clever designs, and allow the gun to work very reliably with few parts and very little maintenance. And besides, the gun is load tolerant (down to light 1 ounce loads), handles well and also mitigates recoil very well. The icing on the cake is the large degree of stock adjustment that allows the gun to be fit to the shooter. I am going on 25 thousand rounds with mine, with zero problems and zero malfunctions.

I have the Sport 2 for the sole reason that it comes with a walnut stock and fore-end and not the plastic. You simply can't beat a quality shotgun with quality wooden furniture. Love the gun. It was fussy with 1oz loads initially (the first time I had the gun out). Since then the recoil spring has broken in nicely and it shoots anything.

It's a cracking gun! The performance version with Briley accessories is an absolute jaw dropper! That inertia system was designed by a Scandinavian gentleman about 100 years ago... many different Firearms have been design with that inertia system. the cryogenic treated barrel on benelli's is worth mentioning also...

I just picked up one of these, used in like new condition. I took it out this weekend and shot it for the first time. I had a little trouble with it on the Skeet field, shooting several clays below my average. My group then arrive and we went out to the Sporting Clays course. Wow did this gun shine! I shot my best score sporting ever. It was effortless. I highly recommend this gun.

I bought a Supersport about 1 year ago, second hand. The gun is light and the balance is great but I find the trigger to be pretty bad. The creep in trigger is what ruins it for me. The weight of the pull isn’t that bad at 5.5 lbs.The trigger pull from my Remington 1100 with light pull sear spring is much crisper and lighter (3.75lbs). I suppose I expected it to be near perfect for a semi-auto at this price point. It does run extremely clean and has cycled everything I’ve thrown at it and has yet to malfunction. How does the trigger from beretta A400 compare to this Benelli?

Hi Lloyd Great review can you tell me what is the difference between this and the m2. I picked up a friends m2 found it fitted like glove and could shoot 10 more clays out on a 50 bird compared to my browning 525 (which I do like BTW). It was unbelievably effortless and just so pointable. Needless to say I'm buying one and now just need to settle on model. Like the idea with rafaello where top section of receiver can be removed just a pity about that finish. What other models strip like this and have the m2 dimensions.

I much prefer the recoil from inertia guns as its more direct than gas guns, however they are not to everyone's taste. If you say an o/u recoil is a 10 and an air rifle is a 1, a nice gas gun is a 6, this is a 6.5 - 7. Does that make sense?

@@DogScreenTV just to help you with reference I have several Remington 1100 gas operated shotguns. They are very soft shooting but I prefer the recoil impulse of the Super Sport. It seems quicker and over with were the gas gun has a longer recoil impulse that seems to last longer. Of course this is purely a personal perception on my part but there is a difference. 7:55 I presume you're shooting in England and yet you appear to be shooting American skeet rules - i.e. shouldering the gun before calling for the bird. English skeet rules are that one calls for the bird and then shoulder the gun as one would naturally do when Pheasant shooting. At least that's how it was when I shot as a kid in the seventies. Has something changed?

My question was "Has Something changed?" Clearly it has. This rule book that you offer was printed in 2011. I shot with my father at Bedford Gun Club (Then home of the British Open) and Flitwick Gun Club, from 1970 to about 1974. Before that I was a trapper at the Flitwick club. In all that time I never observed anyone shooting "American style" as it was then known and if any novice attempted to do so they were told that English Skeet, which may or may not have had a written form back then, required calling for the bird with stock lowered. That, at the time, was part and parcel of English Skeet. This American style was regarded as being too easy as well as unnatural. In fact, when I first started shooting, If I recall correctly, there was no station 8 at all. There was a double on station 4 and the extra bird was shot on station 7; usually from the low house. That changed around 1972 ish. So, Lloyd, clearly things have changed. You are not in error it would seem according to that rule book.. But it doesn't look elegant, I have to say, and furthermore it is not a change for the better. Well done the CPSA. Such a pity. Do you know when these present rules first came into being? I am planning to come home to England when I retire. But if they force me to shoot that way, I'll stick to the fields and my Gun Dog. Is it the same for sporting clays or just skeet? Anyhow, thank you for your kind response.
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 6 жыл бұрын
I shoot sporting gun down, FITASC requires gun down, as does Olympic Skeet. I know many people who shoot ESK (English Skeet) gun down as if you read the sentence carefully it states " The gun position is optional prior to firing but at the point of firing, the gun must be seen to be in the shoulder" which I assume is to stop show offs from shooting from the hip.
@davidcurtiswatts2378
@davidcurtiswatts2378 6 жыл бұрын
That's a relief. I didn't read it that carefully I must confess. Looks as though I will be shooting at someones club in England sometime soon. I might miss everything in sight but at least I can look okay doing it.
