The Bengal cat, or pygmy cat, or far Eastern cat (Prionailurus bengalensis) is a species of cat in the subfamily of small cats. Bengal cats live in South and East Asia. Their size corresponds to the size of a domestic cat, and in their vast range they are found in a variety of colors.
The Bengal domestic cat or Bengal is an intergenerational hybrid of a domestic cat (Felis silvestris catus) and the actual Bengal cat (Prionailurus bengalensis).
The appearance within the species of Bengal cats varies greatly. For example, in the Primorsky territory, they look very different than on the Islands of Indonesia. In the South, the basic color of their fur is more yellow, like a leopard, and in the North it is mostly gray-brown. The coat is covered with dark spots, and there are black stripes on the head. In Northern populations, the spots on the coat are circular, while in southern populations they are no more than black smears. The size of Bengal cats varies from 65 cm (on the island of Java) to a meter (Primorye territory), including a tail that reaches 20-40 cm.
