It’s negligence to release a sedated animal from the vet. The bumping around during transport, in a sedated state, could actually cause choking in the animal. I think the dosage of anesthesia was too high for such a routine and short surgery. Glad Mimi recovered but that vet’s anesthesia procedures should be looked into. I recall from a previous video when one of the dogs went to the vet for a routine dental cleaning and they also cut the nails, without permission, and cut them too short and the dog was bleeding for a few hours. Not to mention the tissue trauma and potential infection that could have caused. I question that vet’s competency.

I found this rather shocking! Vets here in Australia don't send animals home until the anaesthesia has worn off much more than this so as to be sure all is well. Lulu and Coco must have been so worried to be confronted by a completely unconscious Mimi. Glad it all turned out ok

To me, the video was upsetting to see negligence by the vet to over sedate an animal and then not confirm vitals prior to discharge. The worry and distress the dogs experienced was unnecessary. Yes, the dogs were comforting but they probably thought Mimi was dead or injured. Not necessary to show this to the viewers. I felt I was witnessing veterinarian negligence, and the distress it can cause and create.

Poor Mimi, she went through a lot. Loulou and Coco whining with concern broke my heart. It was incredibly sweet how, even though Mimi was woozy and no doubt feeling very vulnerable, opted to cuddle with her doxie sisters instead of resting alone. What a sweet bond those three have!

Ah, Mimi, not a great day, is it? I'm surprised the vet sent her home while she was still under. Mine keeps the dogs, at least, until they're walking (stumbling!). But, never fear, the world's best home health care aides Loulou and Coco gave her all the loving attention. 🥰

It appears to me the dosage of anesthesia was too high for such a short surgery. I think they may have made an error. The vet should never release an animal until all vitals are normal and the animal can function. I never saw an animal released from surgery in that condition and sent home. If I was Evelyn, I would inquiry at Vet about the anesthesia procedures so no animal in the future will be injured. Fortunately, Mimi recovered.

I was surprised to see her sent home like that too, but I assumed maybe every country has different standards about this kind of thing? Here in the US, they kept my cat a full 24hrs for her spay; I dropped her off at 7am & was able to pick her up at 10am the next day.

Yes they are so adorable together. I think they know that Mimi was alive but they were very eager to take care of her. Lie against her and lick her. I had to hold that back a bit to give Mimi her space and to give her some rest. Surely Coco wanted to lick her whole face. Everything is going well with Mimi and now the 3 of them are together again 🥰❤️.

Wow! That was some anesthetic they gave her! I could almost feel her wooziness. The way Loulou and Coco stayed by their "sister" and their concern for her was adorable and so sweet the way they curled up together for comfort. Yes normally you notice that less because they stay with a vet. But if the surgery is mild and a pet can blink and breathe well, the pet can go home. It took 5 hours for her to fully wake up. We expected a Bengal cat to fit into our family, but we never expected them to have such a close bond. A dream come true 🥰.

Different countries have different legal policies about veterinary care. However, two policies that are universal is never over sedate an animal and always wait for vitals to return prior to discharging an animal after surgery. The policy of anesthesia dosage for animals and humans is regulated based on the average length of surgery. From what this video showed, Mimi was greatly over dosed for such a short routine surgery. I think an error was made at the vet’s office. Although the animal appears recovered, damage and injury to brain cells and other areas could have occurred. This video was upsetting to watch.

I recall a video where one of the dogs went for a routine dental cleaning and not only was the dog sedated for a very long time (again- anesthesia overdose) but they cut the toenails too deeply and the paws were bleeding for a while. The nail cutting was done WITHOUT permission, as Evelyn stated. Performing an unauthorized procedure that injured the pet, and could cause infection and soreness, when a simple teeth cleaning was requested is unforgivable.
