In case anyone is wondering why this game is iconic to the Bengals, it's because it signified the end of the "Bungal" days of the 90's and early 00's.

Everyone talks about how Marvin Lewis never won a playoff game, but they forget where he brought this franchise from. And this game was before Carson Palmer started playing. The 2003 roster wasn't much different from the 2002 roster that went 2-14.

@@robertridley9279 Okay u can hang on to that theory all u want but as a die hard Bengals fan Marvin Lewis going 0-7 in the playoffs and never having and control on the behavior of his players isn't good enough for me. The dude coached our team for 15 seasons! and didn't win one single playoff game.
@jharp083 жыл бұрын
@@TheGreat1Four20 lol cute you think coaches control professionals athletes in that way. Plus no one was going control some of those players. If the bengals had a halfway decent scouting program and indoor practice facility we wouldn’t have to rely on players like burfict in the first place. It takes an organization buddy.

For us longtime Bengal fans, this was the game that brought us out of the depths of hell. They would win 2 more games after this, pushing their record to 7 - 5 and setting up a showdown with the big bad Baltimore Ravens. LOL . . they crushed us, and we eventually finished 8 - 8, the best record since their playoff appearance in 1990. But this was the game that gave us some hope for the future. Kitna wasn't the QB that could take us to the next level, because of his limited skills. But he was the leader that the young Bengals needed. Thank you Kit, for your service to this team, and to the Lord. The Chiefs came into this game like they were going to go 16 - 0 and win the Super Bowl. But Marvin and the Bengals had something else in mind. If memory serves me correctly, the Chiefs would stumble the rest of the way and finish 13 - 3 or 12 - 4. Then lose in the playoffs to Indianapolis.

I remember walking out of PBS the week before when Cincy beat the Texans. I was telling everybody, with 100% confidence, that Cincy would beat Kansas City the next week. I said it all week and watched this game with full confidence we would win. Such grit, such determination. I thought Marvin Lewis was the team's savior. He kinda was, even if we didn't get to the Promised Land.

One thing that goes unnoticed for the Chiefs is Mike Maslowski getting injured. Much was made about how bad the Chiefs defense was in 2003, but in the first 8 games with Maslowski healthy, the Chiefs only gave up 21 points or more twice. After he got hurt, including the Bengals game, they gave up 21 points or more in 5/7 games, including two games where they got torched for 45 points by the Broncos and Vikings. I don't find this to be a coincidence.

The Chiefs were a juggernaut this season, and Chad Johnson in a very bold and ill-advised (by Marvin) move, guaranteed a victory to an ESPN reporter early in the week. There was a lot of media attention and hoopla building up to it. When the Bengals actually did pull off the unlikely victory it signified the beginning of a change in the culture in Cincinnati Football (which was completely dismal for the entire 90s decade. All longtime Bengal fans over the age of 23 remember this game as significant in Bengal lore.

If you do, don't wait a moment longer to start your new life in Jesus Christ. Remember, this prayer is not a magical formula. You are simply expressing your heart to God. Pray this with us: "Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life and forever In Jesus' name I pray, Amen." Prayer of Salvation - I've Prayed It; Now What? If you've prayed this prayer of salvation with true conviction and heart, you are now a follower of Jesus. This is a fact, whether or not you feel any different. Religious systems may have led you to believe that you should feel something - a warm glow, a tingle, or some other mystical experience. The fact is, you may, or you may not. If you have prayed the prayer of salvation and meant it, you are now a follower of Jesus. Welcome to the family of God! We encourage you now to find a local church where you can be baptized and grow in the knowledge of God through His Word, the Bible. www.allaboutgod.com
