Huge Toyota fan. The wife has a 22 4runner so I wanted too get a Tundra to be a toyota family until I stumbled upon a ZR2 looking at Tundras & instantly fell in love. Both are beautiful trucks but the ZR2 6.2L and it's interior won me over.

The 6.2 Chevy ZR-2 is far more desirable in my opinion, especially with a bigger block V-8 motor, vs a 6 cylinder turbo. Just a more rugged styling inside & out with the Silverado.
@michaelbrill66096 ай бұрын
More rugged style but damn sure won't last as long as the Toyota. Lol
@vinniecorleone626 ай бұрын
@michaelbrill6609 The interiors of Toyota have cheap hard plastics. Mechanically they may last longer but look what you are driving. I think the new Tundras are hideous, the GM trucks look infinitely better inside & out. I own a new 80K Ram Limited & it's far better than the Chevy & the Toyota. My last Hemi Ram lasted me 13 years & never once broke down, making it the most reliable vehicle out of the 92 cars & trucks I've owned.
@hochhaul4 ай бұрын
@@michaelbrill6609based on what? That new turbocharged engine in the Tundra has had terrible reliability in everything Toyota puts it in, the transmission has had quite a few complaints and reports of replacement under warranty, and it was Toyota that lost a $3.6 billion dollar lawsuit for frames that were rotting out prematurely. There is nothing about the 3rd gen that suggests it's going to last longer and Toyota doesn't build trucks today that are as good as they were 20 years ago.

I’m going Chevy ZR2 🇺🇸 every time over giving market share to the Japanese. 🇯🇵 They can assemble here & that’s great, but now that quality is pretty well aligned among most major brands; I see the Chevy/GMC as more capable & far better aesthetically as well.

@pnwdweler41006 ай бұрын
Given the volume of recalls and issues with the motor imploding you may want to rethink that. Toyota quality isn’t what it once was, huge recall currently for the motor still providing power to the wheels when the transmission is in neutral.
@carcrashesq4 ай бұрын
I have a 24 tundra, coming from a Raptor. And I can tell you definitively the Tundra is worse in every possible way including build quality, and recalls.
@hochhaul4 ай бұрын
Hahahahaha your mechanic will be replacing your Tundra's short block judging by the number of blown engines being rebuilt by dealers. Some guys have had their engine replaced twice under warranty. Terrible bottom end design for a twin turbo V6. Toyota knew those crank bearings were going to be holding on for dear life judging by the SAE paper Toyota wrote on the engine.
@puzzlebow21586 ай бұрын
A friend told me the modern GM 6.2s have two manufacturers for the rod bearings, and one of those manufacturers make defective bearings so they wear out prematurely. and he told me that they’ve had two 2024 trucks in for a new engine so far this year, as a GM fan I am disappointed they don’t drop those defective bearings
@hochhaul4 ай бұрын
The Tundra has had rod bearing failures left and right for the last three model years. Coping fanboys insisted it was a "bad batch" of bearings but there are 2024 Tundras with blown engines. Some more than one replacement engines as the 2nd one blew up too. That's especially bad considering GM sells more than six trucks for every Tundra sold.
@ramaswamynarayanaswamy48063 ай бұрын
There is a TSB issued for oversized lifter bores, which I assume is related to this problem. They definitely jumped on it much quicker than Toyota did on its "machining debris" which it really is NOT.

I don't see any aspect of the Tundra that looks better built than the ZR2. Particularly the engine since the Tundra has had a high rate of catastrophic engine failures and Toyota doesn't have good reputation for frame longevity (my 2011 Tundra was constant work to fend off rust perforations).
