ECM internal fault revealed by the Immobilizer resetting while driving 2000 Honda insight 1st gen

Part 6 of I Bought a Dead 22 Year Old Honda Insight Hybrid and Drove it Home After It had sat for 5 Years! After installing an eBay Immobilizer Bypass board in to my 2000 Honda Insights ECM in the last video I thought I had finally fixed my pesky misfire. The fault remained and most weirdly the green Immobilizer light on the dash would still blink as the misfire happened. This lead me to question why the ECM would lose power and reset the immobilizer bypass triggering it to illuminate the immobilizer bypass.
In this video we download the service manual from InsightCentral.net and learn all about how the immobilizer system works and test extensively on my 2000 Honda Insight. eventually the evidence for a bad ECM piles up so deep I get on eBay and buy a used one from someone parting out a wrecked Insight.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the problem that you are trying to track down? I ask because my '00 insight ECU is constantly putting +12v out on the VTEC solenoid pin from the ECU. From what I can tell, it is only supposed to put out plus 12v above 3,200 rpm. It is putting out plus 12v with key on, making me believe it is shorted to voltage inside the ecu.

My ignition shuts off while I’m driving and the I get all sorts of CEL codes and check engine lights. I think I have it fixed not. After all the contact cleaning and work I did try to fix the problem I was fed up and just pressure washed the engine. I haven’t have the issue in two weeks now!
