Thanks for the good close-up shots, his narration and having a point to your video unlike so many online where video producers just 'show you' but never tell you what they're doing.

2:45 in, and this video was already worth watching for the 'splitting a concrete bag in half with rebar' trick. Ok, back to the video =)

+homesteadonomics Thanks that is a trick My dad showed me years ago. Its pretty cool what can be done with Ferrocement. My dad and his neighbors have built some huge domes and very large earth retaining walls out of this.

Yes Sir, we are in Denton County. Pipe creek and the surrounding areas are on my list to visit some day. I like the hill country and want to get a B and B for the family for couple nights and do the tourist thing. I got a very young child and just don't feel like camping with her yet. Where you born there or did you move to it. I always wonder how people get to live in interesting places.

What was the ferrocement recipe your father used, to make his mortar ? .....I can see he used the Quikrite sand/topping mix. Was that used alone, or was it mixed with something else ? And if it was , what were the ratio's used ? I wanted to used masonry sand and Portland cement, but finding masonry sand at the box stores around here is next to impossible.....
@BenHuttash8 жыл бұрын
+twinray27 Usually he uses two parts washed sand with one part Portland cement. I don't know why he opted for the quikrite this day.

+twinray27 Also sometimes when he adds some cement glue when he works on horizontal parts over head. He feels like it helps it stay put. But most importantly you don't want to get it too wet, you want to be able to mold it in your hand and have it keep its shape fairly well.

That was, believe it or not......very informative, when the cement was being mixed. It's one thing to read about it ( or to hear it explained ) , but to see it being done, helps immensely...... It kinda shows what you need to look for...... Thanks for the help ! : )

Hey Ben, Do you have pictures or videos on the dome project you dad & his neighbors went through? I want to do something like that. Building things with Ferrocement Method interest me quiet a bit. Thanks for the video.
