Not surprised that Benidorm is more expensive as I've noticed it these past few years when looking to rent an apartment. Some of them want 1000€ for just 2 weeks! If it gets worse ill have to consider holidaying somewhere else.

We are planning to visit Alicante for the first time next month and we watch news that is water shortage and restrictions in Alicante. is that true? sometimes news here in Canada make the problem bigger than what it is but we trust your information more. We are just back on Saturday 24th August. We stayed a week in Riudor, fairly newly refurbished? The hotel was spotless, public toilets spotless, rooms cleaned and bed changed every morning. Staff great, dining experience great. Now the negative! The following I didn’t give a thought too until I returned home, after first night I had a red lump/spot on forehead and wrist. Each morning I found more lumps until now I have several extremely itchy and inflamed spots around both ankles, legs, wrists. I thought I’d been attacked by mosquitoes although never troubled outside? Day 3 of our stay, in the morning whilst on balcony, we noticed about 3-4 balconies along, the cleaner had put two mattresses stood up on the balcony, still no thoughts occurred. Now home, I’ve been advised that the multiple bites I have were most likely caused by bedbugs!! I really didn’t want to say anything negative about this hotel but this is extremely worrying and I just hope I’ve not brought back any unwanted hitch hikers.

@@traceys8065 thankfully, it appears no hitchhikers have hidden away for a free ride to sunny(?) Scotland! Just in case, I stripped off in kitchen, all holiday clothes in washing machine, into dryer and hot ironed. Benidorm for last 22 years, barring covid year, and never once been bitten. Truly disappointed with this refurbished hotel.
