Excellent video! Well thought out and you covered the topic quite thoroughly. I did get a chuckle out of you mentioning walking around with a wallet sticking out of a back pocket. You actually remind me of a woman i used to work for...one day i had been walking around with my wallet peeking out of my back pocket. She noticed and decided to sneak my wallet out of my pocket while i was busy on a task. She returned it by day's end, a mischievous smile and a wink to go along with it. I enjoyed the flirtation of it, so i used to intentionally leave it poking out more often. And she'd pick it every time, graduating to a kiss on the cheek for every return! 😂 At one point i admitted that i enjoyed that aspect of it. She responded with, "I enjoy planting those kisses, which is why i keep picking your pocket!" 🤣

Great advise and happens all over , as you say m £1000 per dip , easy money, so always make sure you have good Travel Insurance that will cover the cost of the phone... worth checking and paying a bit extra...

A'reyt Lucy. As a seventeen year old I was shoved onto an underground train in Rome, in a crowd. Unable to move, my wallet was pickpocketed. At least I knew not to keep all my money in one place, even at that age, so not a disaster. On later travelling holidays I used ex German army shirts, with big pockets, cut down to make them like a vest, worn under my shirt, but Benidorm is not really that sort of backpacking destination, even if I arrived with a rucksack the first time. Just keep your wits, like you say.

This is why I always say to my folks and to all Watch out for pickpocketers including e scooters E scooter drivers can hit you and make you fall on the concrete floor and killed! That was reported on inside edition KZbin channel Now with phones don't go walking around with your phone at all times There are snatchers on bikes which can quickly grab the mobile device. Not just like wallets etc Great reminder advice Lucy Yes Benidorm is a fantastic place to visit But it's important we don't let our guard down

I was in Benidorm in January...while standing at the front of the silver dollar I witnessed a pick pocket stealing a wallet from a pensioner but fortunately he turned round and caught him in the act ..the scumbag said sorry and gave him his wallet back then walked right past me at which point I threw my full pint over him, he was soaked and gave me a filthy look then walked away ..be very aware when changing money in the indoor market as they follow you and wait for a opportunity to steal it

Hi Lucy I always use a folding leather phone case that has an eyelet you can thread a keyring loop through, added to that is Jeep lanyard with quick release clip so i can use the phone as normal. The lanyard goes around my trouser belt. If anyone tries to pickpocket me they have to drag me along too as they did on the yellow brick road near Burbons bar years ago!

Peemen often operate on the Levante front usually between Jungle bar and Cimbel hotel in the morning before the police patrols increase.I run along there most mornings when there and rarely don't see them.

Great advice Lucy. Unfortunately they got me on my very last night in Spain. My expensive Tag watch slipped right off my arm without me even feeling it. Was a very quick encounter with a stranger who approached me. I was more worried about my phone being swiped but I walked off then realised when checking for the time my watch was gone. Unbelievable. Thanks Lucy. Also - ladies, when you are sitting in a bar or restaurant, do not put your handbag down on the floor or on another seat. I have a bag with a shoulder strap that clips on. I wrap the strap around a table leg or chair leg so that it cannot be easily lifted.

I got pickpocketed in June walking from the Melia hotel down to the front. I had my wallet in a zip up small shoulder bag, that I see a lot of men have now. I also keep my glasses and phone in there. Im pretty certain that it was either at a set of lights waiting to cross, with people in front and behind, or similar but outside a shop near the indoor market where everyone was bunched together walking to pass people having an argument. Luckily Id taken my cards out, bar a chase card with €20 on it I froze straight away, and €60 in cash in there, and my phone was in the other pocket, they didnt unzip. The tracker is a good idea, but just be careful seeking retribution, there are some decent sized gangs in Benidorm.

A fellow KZbinr was dipped a month or so ago. He was walking down the stairs at the bridge where the chicken shop was, and someone stole money, his passport, and some other documents from his backpack. He said it was only a matter of seconds. I always have my bag across my body and don't carry a lot of cash, and I am very careful when i use my phone It can happen to anyone, just be extra vigilant. 👀

Whenever I am going hitting the bars in benidorm the only thing that I have on me is enough cash for the session, split into different pockets. My phone, bank card jewellery remains in the safe. If I were to get robbed it is easily replaced without any grief. Ps have a great time and no I have never been dipped....

Hi Lucy in June i randomly picked a Hotel to stay this time the Pueblo.Every night people would go out drink a fair amount and every morning without fail the stories about getting mugged and robbed on the way back to the Hotel would be spoken about and in three cases injuries were sustained. Maybe because I'm older, but I don't understand the need to post a photo every 5 minutes of where you are & what you're doing! Maybe take a couple of pics, put your phone away, & post them when you get back to your hotel, rather than do it there & then, partly because it's taking your attention away from your surroundings, and partly because, sad but true, no one will miss it if you don't! I think women particularly are targets for distraction robberies, we tend to be brought up to be polite, smile at strangers etc. If someone's bothering you, don't be afraid to yell at them. We are often victims because we're embarrassed to attract attention. Thieves don't like attention! Great video!

There are of course Spanish criminals who are professional pickpockets but they are not that proliferate at the art ie Spanish resorts . Major tourist areas ie Europe are controlled by clans who set up safe houses and moved between different locations. People showing their money etc, become the target [mark] The gang do not work alone. The very professional dip will have a back up, the gang cant afford them being arrested or attacked by the [mark] The dip takes place and immediately the blocker goes to work [old innocent looking guy]. The dip may pass on the goods to a third [the runner]. Your on holiday and are aware of the foreigner nearby do not assume that they are Spanish. The one of the lowest areas for pickpockets is Bucharest. So why don’t the Spanish Police arrest the Pea men, like wise report a theft to Police in Barcelona and you get a strange look.

Is there a profile for the ladies of the night? Are they English, Spanish, African, Asian, Eastern European? I know in Gran Canaria there are large groups of African women…is it the same in Beni? People talk about them all the time but no one actually describes them. Maybe it’s obvious if you are there? We visited last winter & didn’t see anything much going on. And the pickpockets? Seems like if they are mingling with the footy fans, they might be English? Wish people would just say.

There are several different groups, different nationalities. you can generally spot them by a combination of their clothes and mannerisms. They aren't very discreet put it that way

I got offered a weekend in Benidorm many years ago by work for free.... so I took myself and my friend off for the weekend. On the first night his new iPhone got robbed!! People were falling around drunk honestly it was the worst experience of my life never again!! I do watch your videos a lot and you do an amazing job!! and sometimes I think it doesn’t look too bad… maybe visit the old town.. but it just seems so tacky

The tubby bald guy in his 50's who works reception overnight at La Era Park is a lousy pick pocket who targets drunk people as they arrive back at the apartments, only I caught him, whipped 50 euro out the split second I opened my wallet and was looking away at reception but I glanced back just in time, I would not have believed you could be in and out of a wallet that fast if I had not seen it with my own eyes, Oh and the management don't care and Jet2 neither. He stands outside asking would you like some water, at the top of the entrance steps knowing he is just out of view of the reception camera. He was gonna get it and he knew it so backed off and then pointed to the 50 on the floor and suggested I had dropped it.

Actually one Summer I went through about 5 phones in the space of a couple of months. That was when I used to party and drink a lot. I can't say how it happened (lost or stolen) all I know is I went out with my phone and didn't go home with it. Funnily enough it hasn't happened since i stopped drinking 5 years ago.
