I've eaten paella in many places. None have looked like the one you ate. NEVER eat in the Tourist areas, anywhere. Go where the locals are eating, which is NEVER on the Tourist/ Seafront area, anywhere. You surely know that..Supposed to be a Tourist Vlog, I'm guessing. Martin and Sharon, just viewed this on a 55" 4k Sony TV and I am astounded by the quality of the picture- a triumph I'd say. Great adventure, see upon your return to blighty. Even references to Holly Johnson's debut song didn't deflate me. Have a very safe journey home. At this time of life I was hoping to travel a bit, however due to health issues, I cannot take flights now so it has been a great week of armchair entertainment.Thank you so much for showing a holiday from a real point of view.

I have really enjoyed all your videos, enjoyed joining you in Benidorm. I am English but have lived in New Zealand for 40 years but after watching your meals of fish and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce I am really yearning them. I have actually found a fish and chip shop who does english fish and chips with peas and curry sauce here in Auckland. I still cant get used to tomato sauce on fish and chips. I lived in Benidorm and went to Ray's 2 regularly with my aunt Paula who also lived there since the early 1970s having first visited in 1958 when there was only one hotel in the old town and anything outside of the old town was lemon and orange groves. We lived in the Bungalows Horizonte which were late 1960s award winning bungalows when they were the only buildings at the end of the Playa Levante on the Ricon de Loix a short walk from Ray's. The premises you ate in are a newer one than when I was there. If I remember correctly Steve and June were from Leeds and my aunt Paula, who was a teacher at the Sierra Bernia international school at L'Alfaz del Pi just outside Benidorm, knew them. Just across the Avenedia was an all you can eat Indonesian restaurant. Used to go for tea at the chicken cafe next to the Los Pelicanos and they'd have the bullfighting from Valencia on the TV which would end with the death of either the bull or the bullfighter. After all sometimes the bull wins.

That paella contained squid ink (black) that gives a fish taste and obviously a black colour to the rice. It's a very traditional, classic addition to seafood paella so it wasn't overcooked or burnt. It was a good choice for a traditional Spanish dish.
