Literally just landed back in UK from Christmas in Benidorm. A week of truly fabulous weather (Shorts and T-Shirts day and night). It took me many years to pluck up courage to try Benidorm and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for the Vlogs, Lucy and keep them coming. You never know - I just might be back next Christmas !

Great overview Lucy, and nice to see the lovely Angela from Aromas! I think this year, we’ve seen a lot of people return to beloved Benidorm, but also, many are perhaps spending their first “proper” Xmas with family at home. I think Jan/Feb/Mar is gonna to be extra busy. In Old Town it’s been like pre-pandemic to be fair, busy and bustling, places full, inside and out at restaurants and a great vibe.

My wife and I have visited the island 6 times in the last 10 years and enjoyed every visit up until the last one, which was 2 years after covid. What a change....unfriendly locals, shopkeepers and virtually everyone we came across. Don’t know if it’s brexit that has caused this but it completely spoilt our holiday. Will look for an island / country who respect British tourists next year.

Just back from Beni arrived on the 21st to the the 28th loved every minute,the weather was absolutely brilliant and the hotel Princesa done it's self proud,we were a little worried about being away from the kids and grand children, now they want to go with us next year

I've had a really good year business wise in my taxi however Christmas has been a massive let down. Pubs were shut they obviously knew more than me but it's the door to door work I usually get on Christmas night it just didn't happen. Really weird driving around at 7pm not seeing anyone and the phone being silent it was pretty depressing. So I'm glad Benidorm has picked up and that the weather is nice. I fancied coming over in January for my Birthday but it's just too pricey ATM. Take care Lucy and have a great 2023 x

Benidorm has had its day. In the long term there will be a lot fewer tourists going to Benidorm due to recession, the long term effects of Covid etc. If Benidorm is to survive it can no longer rely just on British tourists. It needs to diversify and attract tourists from other countries. There’s a lot more places closed down in Benidorm, bars cafes etc. The resort is not what it was. Gradually give it 5 years and there’ll be far fewer Brits there. Also you can get a holiday in Turkey or Egypt for the same price in much bigger and better hotels in massive grounds with water parks and water sports and better food. I’m sorry but Benidorm has had its day.

@@joaquincastello6174 but Benidorm is too much reliant on British tourists. With Brits only allowed to stay for 90 days business is suffering. English Bars and cafes are closing. The Valencia tourist authority needs to ask the EU for money to help them adapt Benidorm for a much more international tourist clientele not just British. Money to help local Spanish and other EU citizens, French German, Polish open their own bars and cafes. It’s much easier for a French person or any other EU citizen to own a business or property in Spain than it is for a British person. Also many hotels in Benidorm have small grounds. Merge 3 hotels into one big hotel with huge space and pools like you see in Turkey and Egypt. Benidorm needs to move with the times and it’s time as a majority British resort is coming to an end.

The old town is lovely compared to the new town ie English Square etc... Very run down and scruffy but alot of Brits love it god knows why. Old Town is where its at. You feel like you're in a different country in the old town and not in Blackpool like you do when in the new town.

Streets especially around Av Gerona and to English square are filthy, smelly and stained with human mess and all sorts. Cheap shops with tacky souvenirs etc. Derelict bars and cafes. It’s really depressing the new town is not suitable for families. Part of the reason why fewer people are going on holiday there. I seen buses taking people to airport unable to move because of drunks who then shout and swear at the driver if he uses the horn at them. The new town really needs a massive clean up and to change the clientele it attracts.

If Benidorm is to survive they say they need to attract tourists from other countries. Benidorm can’t rely on just the Brits any more to support its tourist industry. A lot of things have changed since Covid, cost of living crisis and recession. Soon they will need ETIAS visa to visit Spain and that will restrict more Brits coming to Spain. People with criminal convictions and certain other things may not be able to go to Spain. Also people are trying other places. For the same price as a week in Benidorm you can stay in a massive resort hotel in Turkey or Egypt with better food, water parks water sports an all the extras. I’m sorry but Benidorm is old and it has had its day.
