from the first day I heard of the name Finidi as Super eagles Coach, I was alarmed and Knew that this would happen. from the body language of Finidi, there is no passion, desperation, hunger, and mere seriousness to charge the boys. I even wonder how he motivates them in the dressing room. Like father like sons, the eagles played without hunger, mean, seriousness, desperation and aggression to demonstrates what was/is at stake. It is painful to see a legend of the game thrashed like this, but that is one of the possible realities of transiting to management. That said, Finidi should be excused at this time. 90% of the blame is on the NFF who waited till the 11th hour to appoint a manager. Obviously, they had no idea how big these games or the opponents were. The NFF chairman and board should resign if they have any shame. Finidi should follow suit as well. They are already overwhelmed and it will be a grave mistake to continue and hope they can turn it around. From the moment when Finidi started saying he wasn't afraid as they were only 3 possible outcomes of a football match, he gave himself away as someone lacking hunger and personality for big things. He is not ready for this level. With Finidi remaining in the saddle, the team will not be at the next AFCON also.

He is not a bad person and maybe not a bad coach but is he really the best coach for this team. He doesn’t seem to motivate the players to run for him, to put in the effort. His team had lost energy from about the 70th minute and he couldn’t galvanise them from the bench. He was very low energy and that transpired to the team. A manager is not really needed when the team is winning. You earn your money when your team is down. Finidi struggled yesterday.

As a player Finidi George was really good,, he had a great footballing career but as a coach he doesn't look convincing enough. Finidi does not have depth. His starting 11 has been called to question. Why start players Pesserio benched? Kelechi never had playing time at club? Why play him ahead of a Boniface?, Pesserio strength was defence, and it is Finidi's archilles heel. Is Finidi not supposed to build on the strength of Pesserio who he was an assistant to?. If we don't sack Finidi today, the remaining 6 matches is not guaranteed. If you can't beat Benin in a neutral venue, is it SA, Rwanda or Lesotho we want to beat away?.
