Haha, it's really funny to see the confusion prior to the monster hit at 0:55 that occurs because Ma'a, the setter, forgets he is setting, and runs to the outside to make himself ready to hit xD He's been playing both setter and outside hitter for the US in the VNL, so he probably had a moment of confusion where he mixed up his positions.

Not confused. Ma’a is used to playing in a system where if he is front row and closer to the outside position, he becomes available to hit while another player sets. His teammates either forgot or were not aware

I tore 3 of the 4 muscles in my left knee because I landed how he lands. The thing is he can easily change how he lands to because he jumps so high the he has a lot of time to adjust his body while falling. Someone needs to tell him before it’s too late

Yup. Fucked up left knee former main attacker here. It hurt for years when I had to switch to the right foot which was not used to this at all. Damaged my feet bones and my leg muscle then quit it and became fat. lol. But Pros should know how to prevent this.

Patch is an amazing hitter but sometimes he is prone to error and mishits due to too much power. But he will definitely be a great Opposite in the future.

I think he is not powerful enough given how high he jumps but yes he needs to learn from Anderson on how to reduce the amount of errors ...what a great legacy to follow. But I think he should pull off least 120km/hr spike given how high he jumps

In my opinion, the vnl best opposite spiker should belong to patch, i know anderson is still the main oppposite hitter for the usa, but patch's performance is just outstanding, he deserve it

Yes he had an oustanding performance but choosing best opposite spiker or any best is actually based on percentage score. Maybe Anderson had an higher percentage score than Patch.

Patch & Jendryk are for me two new great players in USA team, I didn't know them earlier, since VNL so for me they are new. //Ma zasięg chłop, ale nasi nie próżnują Muzaj jest podobny, ale i na bloku robi robotę, zasię max to chyba 3,8 nawet, co na polskie warunki jest ponad normą i światową zresztą też.

@@ritter1073 ogólnie trochę miał problemy z odnalezieniem siebie. Po tym jak nie dostał powołaj na tokyo trochę psychika nie dała. Lub może i wcześniej aktualnie zajmuje się bardziej designeratwem i gsrnakrstwem. Ogłosił przerwę od gry. Szkoda chłopa, ale nie ma co się zmuszac jak tego nie kochał, gdyby poprawil grę blok obrona to USA mogłoby mieć zastępstwo za Andersona

I remember when BYU played UCLA during Patch’s last collegiate season. He was literally hitting everything ~over~ the UCLA block but five feet in ~front~ of the back-row players. Al Scates was doing color commentary for the UCLA/PAC-12 TV coverage; after the match, he offered Micah Ma’a the helpful suggestion that the back row might like to take a step ~forward~ to be in position to “dig” Patch. You could just see Ma’a thinking, “Are you #%*€! ~crazy~?”
