Thanks for the heads up on the fuji/apple combination. I've also kept my NEX5 because of the 16mm and FE adapter, it's a good fe and for the money I can't really replace it either on my EOS system or with a fuji...

Great video. I've owned similar cameras and I've preordered the X100S for the same reasons as you, but keeping my NEX-5n for video and interchangeability. By the way, I've read that the Apple plug works with the Fuji charger.

Great video. X100s is an excellent choice - not compact though. I'd say the champion of image quality + compactness would be the Nex 5N + Sony's 16-50mm pancake.

have you considered using the 17f18 with an oly epl5? i believe the build quality and size is comparable to the panasonic.

Hey Ben, I'm in the market for something in this range to replace my Nikon D40x. I'm leaning towards the O-MD or E-PL5 for the great IQ and fast autofocus (I have an 8 month old), they have the same sensor, I don't need the VF but the E-PL5 has worse IBIS. Do you think the Fuji would be a better choice? Since I'm coming from an SLR I'm concerned about the non-interchangeable lens. Thanks.

Personally I need a fast lens so both the 16-50 and 16mm are out. Also, the epm2 is almost as small as the NEX5 options and it's got fast lenses to play with. The X100 actually isn't all that much bigger when it comes time to carry it though because the lens is so thin. Yes it's taller, but personally the thickness of the camera & lens combo is what really determines how well it fits in small places. Sony with primes is terrible, the X100 is OK, the EPM2 is great if you've got a pancake.

if it's going to replace your DSLR get a MFT kit over the fuji. If it's going to compliment a DSLR, then the Fuji is a more fun and maybe better choice. The fixed lens issue makes it tough. Also, for an 8 month old (and when they're 2+) you'll want the better AF from the Olys. Either the OMD or EPL5 will work fine though both AF and IS wise.
