i know its a long time ago- but on the other hand- a lot of promoters will invite top bboys to events as guests or judges then have them called out knowing it will blow up their event- and they ll make more money, views, etc- while the bboy gets nothing but risks their rep. i know a few bboys like dyzee talked about it- wherever they went they were called out- and being called cowards- when it was just a ploy to make publicity- etc. under the guise of a "battle" . so there's more to it than that.

What he is saying, is that the BC One Championship is like drinking SunnyD versus Simply Orange, when comparing it to the types of "battles" Benji and his generation had on the regular. I would like to see it happen, purely from an athletic perspective. Lilou is younger but trained in competition standards (so 2-3 rounds for Final etc) and Benji being older is more old school with shorter sets but for multiple rounds (perhaps up to 10) Would be interesting to see how it balances out and who remains on point in their last set. Problem is it's kinda hard to alter your training for aerobic/muscle endurance if you've been used to power sets with breaks in between rounds. Still, be good to see Lilou battle someone he was inspired by, even if his hero is taking it to him. Most people bite these days, albeit by accident from memory retention, but we will soon see the significance if this kicks off!

I totally agree with your statement, Benji is legendary for his disrespect of other dancers and that style did NOT originate with him he just based his dancing on it. For all the youtube BBoys, Benji came of age in early 2000s at battle like Pro Am and such....these types of moves have been accumulating since the late 80s. I don't know Benji personally, so I can't say if he's an asshole or not. but I know he has been extremely disrespectful of other BBoys in the past, unnecessarily. Call outs are cool, it propels the art, but it should be done in the cypher not on the world stage....It looks like Benji is looking for publicity.
