“No one’s aquarium is gonna look perfect all the time” At the moment my aquariums look like I just plopped all the plants in with absolutely no thought and then allowed them to grow as they pleased for 6 months. Anyway ramshorn snails are great, I think people should be nicer to them.

Yes. I got my beta a snail buddy. Her name was Gary and she birthed an entire snail empire that invaded the tank. But I love them so much that now they have an entire tank to themselves

I'm watching this again. For inspiration. And I just thought - A lot of your videos, especially the intros, have a feel of a Miyazaki movie. Is that weird? I just imagined the plants, fish and things you're filming in anime form. The music. The piano. The serenity. Very reminiscent of the serene moments of Hayao Miyazaki films ❤️ Those films are another creative source of inspiration to me, maybe that's why? Haha

Also you don't use co2 right? It must be the lights that keep the rotala growing. I had dirt, and lights and couldn't get any stem plants to take off. Except alternanthera reineckii. Dirt tanks are my love. You don't even need lights w dirt, I had mine with indirect bright light. Ideal plants are cryptocoryne, swords, crinum thaianum, sag, val and dwarf hairgrass.

Benji if you ever want to do a more in-depth video on how you choose the plants for your tank, and how you care for them, I'd love to watch! I'm looking into getting a planted tank with maybe some cherry shrimp but I really don't want to buy CO2 and I'm so confused by ferts and all that...

most beginner aquarium plants don’t require CO2. really most plants don’t need CO2 unless ur trying to get beautiful lush carpets with more difficult plants. CO2 for the most part just helps boost growth and brings out colors. look up “beginner aquarium plants” and use their recommendations! my personal fav is pearlweed though. With pearlweed u definitely don’t need CO2 and it still grows super fast. for ferts, i use aquarium coop easy green. it’s an all in one fertilizer that u squirt in once a week. pretty easy!

my house is an actual jungle atm. We have a 30 g planted aquarium with. A chameleon, two leopard geckos, two crested geckos, a bearded dragon, and over 300 plants everywhere. Haha it is my dream come true. Love your videos you gotta new sub!

I think why ur aquarium is having lots of algae becuz of the osmocote or those roots tabs that u put on ur substrate is now on top of the sand.. u can put them back or just remove them to lessen ur algae problems

yeah that was part of the problem, i accidentally out too many in before i put my sand on top but i was too lazy to remove them. I wasn’t having many problems, but i added a plant that was really bushy and the hair algae just got so tangled up
