We were broke growing up so I don't have too many fond memories of Toys R Us. I remember one trip where we went and couldn't afford anything. Beyond that it was nothing but a commercial with a catchy jingle around the holidays where I'd see kids playing with stuff I was never going to get.

I have 3 favorite memories. My first was being about 9 years old and my grandma and mom took me to Toys R Us and at the time I was obsessed with Super Mario so I got Mario and Luigi figures and I got a really cool Godzilla doll, still have them. My 2nd memory was when I was about 10 or 11 and I got a metal detector and used it at my grandparents house for many years. Finally my last memory is more recent, the last couple of years before they closed my girlfriend and I went quite a few times to find cool collectibles. Hopefully they have some new toy store. I will miss Toys R Us.

The reason Toys "R" Us and many iconic companies that have been around for decades, sometimes even more than a century, are closing down is because even though their business model is reasonably profitable there is way too much focus on satisfying the shareholders. People who have literally nothing to do with Toys" R" Us except the fact that they own part of it through stock trading demanding more return on their investment.

There are also many other factors, like the over buying of starwars merchandice and unpopular toys that they thought were popular. My parents actually think it was for a different reason. Back in the 90's or early 2,000's, my parents ordered a bunch of my sibling's favorite toys from toys are us online in early november before christmas. They would constantly get emails about how the toys were shipped off and that they'd be arriving soon, but at 5'oclock or so, less than a week before christmas, they got an email that said there was an overflux of orders and subsequently, none of what they ordered was actually shipped. They were refunded, but they had to go out and scramble to get things that even resembled what my siblings wanted. Needless to say, they never went to Toys R' Us again and they heard the same from a lot of people. They partially think that the sudden drop in customers along with the hiking prices killed the store.

I'm a 39yr old grown man and don't usually get emotional, but when they close the store it was one of the saddest days I can remember. Sad part is I had just had my 1st Son and was really sad he'd never get to enjoy this magical place like I did growing up. Thank you for this video Sir. I shed a tear watching it. I worked for TRU for eight years. I left in spring of 2015. At that time my manager told me they were in financial trouble and changed directions many times. Corporate never lowered prices and you could items 20 dollars cheaper or more at other places. My store was Babies R Us, store #8855 in evans, ga. Many TRU stores were left this way after they folded. Sad to see them vanish. Awesome video.

Over in france, toys r us was bought by another company and was renamed "pic wic toys", and recently, it has been bought again and will now be called "smyths toys". The great thing with this story here in france is that i can finally buy minecraft, mario and sonic figures (jakks pacific), poppy playtime products (sadly no fnaf merch... 😔). This store is just the best.

Dude this is awesome I wish I could go inside one. I went to a classic abandoned one near my house and saw the letters inside as well. My favorite memory was when I got 20 dollars for my birthday and got a Sonic plush at Toys R Us and I still have it on my shelf to this day.

My greatest memory of toys r us was when my grandparents from England had came up to Scotland to visit and they took me to East Kilbride where the nearest toys r us was to me. I remember going in and hearing the theme song in the distance “I don’t want to grow up I want to be a toys r us kid”. I remember walking about smiling constantly at all the new and cool toys that just came out & now that I look back it makes me genuinely tear up. When we were finished in the shop/store I got a massive Mega bloks halo set which was the iconic gate from halo 3’s map High ground and I never will forget this amazing store. Even though this was 4 years ago, still it's amazing that you actually had the chance to go inside!! I know I made this comment on other vids, but I'm sharing this to whoever wants to know this. I passed by the Toys R Us I went to as a kid, and the logo sign is still perfectly on the building, but the place is boarded (the boarding is painted in white). It's sad though that it's just sitting there abandoned.

When I was a kid, my parents didn’t have enough money for us to get very many things, so every trip to Toys R Us was special and very rare Even though we could barely ever afford to go there, I was still on the birthday list and I’d freak out and cry whenever Geoffrey would call me because a giraffe on the phone with me just scared the hell out of me for some reason 😂

Ice Bagel you don’t get fat young (mostly at least) until you mature and your metabolism changes. I’m overweight because I had a slow metabolism from birth and even if I exercise it still doesn’t do much. It all comes down to luck with how your born.
