Hi Dr. Ben. Can we get a beard update? And any additional details on this beard oil? I want to help out my genes as much as I can lol

I have been using peppermint oil for beard growth for the last approx. 3 weeks. I cannot say about the positive results until I use peppermint oil for atleast 3 months. But I have noticed that after using peppermint oil my beard’s hair have started shedding and I am not noticing any other positive effects. Please tell me is this a good sign.

Are the shedded hairs permanent hairs? I only ask because if you have vellus hairs they will shed first and then terminal hairs will develop. Lots of beard growth formulas contain peppermint oil so I doubt it would be causing hair loss unless your body doesn't tolerate it well. Just fyi if anyone else is wondering.

@@lionhearted_ben Thanks for your reply. I have forgotten to mention all the facts. I am only using peppermint oil with jojoba oil as base. I have myself mixed peppermint oil and jojoba oil for beard growth as 5% peppermint oil and 95% jojoba oil. I am using 3-4 drops of this mixture one time daily on my face as I have no full grown moustache and almost no hair on my chin, so this quantity is sufficient for me. I am not using any other oil or derma roller on my face for beard. I am not facing any serious adverse side effects after using this oil but I have experienced blurry vision after I started using this oil on my face and light itching on my face. When I stopped using this oil the blurry vision problem stopped automatically. Now for the last 3-4 days I am not using this oil, out of fear. Please tell me does blurry vision problem is normal side effect of using this. I have used this oil approximately 3-4 weeks. But now I have discontinued the use of this oil and I have not seen any expected positive results. Please advise, should I continue the use of this oil or not?.

As I'm not a physician I can't give personal medical advice but it's common knowledge to stop if you are having side effects. It's unfortunate that you are experiencing them and maybe you should consult your physician about it.

Dude I got my hair from my dads side of the family. My dads almost in his 60s and has a whole thick head of hair still. He does get some gray hairs but damn he’s still got hella thick hair just like me. Really maybe depends? Idk about any men and their hair in my mothers family

I am also ftm and I've always had my dad's thick dark hair with lots of body, whereas my mom's hair was thinner lighter and only holds body if she uses heat curlers.
