IT'S BEHIND YOU!!!!! A nice piece of slapstick at the start leading to an excellent video, it's so nice to see the structure as it is now. I went there a number of years ago and it was literally falling down, however, as you rightly said, it would have cost more money to take it down than to renovate it, so a sensible decision was made. The presentation you referenced by Tim Dunn was very good, the whole series was to be fair. Trekking Exploration UK have also done a video of Bennerley but before it was restored, so you may want to give it a look. There are over half a million rivets in the viaduct, I counted them all myself the day I went!!!!!

Cheers Seamus. 😁😁 only 500k rivets? Are you sure you didn't miss any?

Quite the bridge! A giant that's invisible to the unaided eye! Joking aside - what an incredible structure. Imagine keeping track of all those parts for building it before the age of computers. And the labor involved! A huge 3-D jigsaw puzzle with 100,000+ parts. And no, it wasn't me who tagged the bridge! Cheers Wobbly!

😄 You're right. And also having to check all those joints. Not easy to access some of them.

Nice one on getting the vid up so quickly since it opened plus congrats on hitting 800 subs. Finally a explore I could take the family to! (maybe)

They'll love it 👍🙂. Don't forget to do a few laps claiming you can't find and knew it here somewhere 😄

Thank you so much for showing the stepped access point. I've been looking everywhere to find out the frequent, steepness, number of steps and time it takes a slower person to climb them.

You're very welcome! It is a bit of a climb. I'm not sure if they've sorted a ramp since my early visit.

Well done for finding the viaduct mate! 😄😄Love the Wobbly Runner hat. I've heard in some cases that drinking two cans of Budweiser can lead to instant disintegration. Worth bearing in mind. Nice boots though.

Cheers Mark 😁. I was only drinking budweiser the other year. It could have been me 😳

I've been in the Facebook group for a year or so so good to see it's finally open for business. Definitely on the to do list to visit it. Can you not cycle on one end and off the other then, given the steps where you left the viaduct?
@WobblyRunner2 жыл бұрын
Depends how brave you are Paul 😁. Unless I missed it, on the Eastern side it was just the steps. There is a slope rightby the stairs, but it's pretty steep.

@@WobblyRunner that sounds like something for me to avoid then 😂 I would have thought they'd make it so it has ramps on both ends, looks a good link for the Nottingham and Erewash canals. Maybe in time that will be done. I'll have to have a drive done at some stage, have an explore.

First off congratulations as I can now see you have 0ver 800 subscribers, here's to 1000! On another note the last time I visited I had to climb up the embarkment (located just after you took the path), and then sneak into the closed off bridge. I shall have to return and walk from the Nottingham side. Oh and yes there Erewash Canal is still in full use, the Nottingham Canal is virtually ruins as you say, but there are water in some bits and it is navigable in Nottingham itself.

Cheers Ben. 👍 I wish I would have been able to visit whilst it was still properly disused. More enjoyable when it's a challenge ;)
