I worked an oiler crew on a major freeway project just north of Los Angeles back in the sixties. All routine maintenance was done on the grave yard shift. I was a young kid and it was a great job. The oiler crews were rough and ready guys who traveled with the company wherever its next project took them. Most lived in trailers they towed from job site to job site

I wish they could have moved it instead of cutting it up. What a terrible fate for such an awesome machine.😭💙

Always best to have some scale in the clip and at 11.00 you can see how gigantic this bucket is.

Love the crackling sounds and it looks like he need more grease than that little tube

Agreed! Funny to see him hand pumping the grease gun, when my lazy but uses a battery powered grease gun on my log splitter! 😀

You only appreciate how big it is when that guy goes to grease that bucket.

I would be afraid of the power cable sitting in that pool of water. The cord has to have some cuts and nicks in it from being drug on the ground.

Those trail cables are really tough and good for all types of working conditions. I was the OEM erector on at least one machine that ran 25kv through their trail cable. On the other hand I've seen the after view of trail cables that were not properly handled and exploded. The machines like this with cable reels were good on the cables.

Why a rubber tired dozer? What's the advantage? Can't say I have ever seen one in real life.

Quieter. Less damage to surfaces and so road use is possible. Less expensive repairs. Easier repairs. Lighter. More fuel efficient.
