@@bennshouts Marlie, love that connection! Ben, Put Me in a Movie is a reference to Lolita which is a famous Novel written by Nabokov. Also made into a movie. The book had a big influence on Lana in the very early days, like we're talking 19/20 when she was in NJ with her uncle waitressing (it was never actually in Orlando that I know of lol), and Nabokov is one of her tattooes. And Lolita is written in the perspective of the pedophile so he thinks it's a romance. Lana's Born To Die album has the song Lolita in it. And the heart shaped sunglasses, cherries e.t.c... the aesthetics of Born to Die is influenced by Lolita.

So, you like Interludes...Burnt Norton is a poem by T.S. Elliott. This isn't mentioned much but Lana sung an interlude for The Weeknd's album. It's called Stargirl Interlude. Lana used to do videos & lives from her house all the time. This link is Lana singing Stargirl Interlude in her kitchen. You can Thank Me in the Morning!! After you watch her do her thing, listen to the released version on KZbin. It's like 2 min. At some point you'll listen to Paradise which is Lana's EP after Born To Die. Before I forget, BTD & Ultraviolence have extended versions so make sure you listen to the longer version otherwise you know the fandom will beg you to go back lol Paradise has a song called, "Ride" and Lana being the brilliant poet & songwriter that she is, speaks a monologue & a prologue for the video. IT'S BRILLIANT. Please do a video reacting to Ride!! And I'm thrilled you love Honeymoon! It's never mentioned, just forgotten! Those that love Honeymoon love it because of its sweeping orchestrations, her powerful voice is showcased like never before and some of her best bridges were written for Honeymoon. It's an album for people who like to FEEL their music. The strings, the bass, the atmosphere~ it's all perfection. Everyone should listen straight through at night under the stars at least once. @@bennshouts Yep! You gotta know the era order!! First up was actually the album Lizzy Grant AKA Lana Del Ray (old spelling, never seen anymore) but it didn't do that well, she left that record label. It was pulled. You can't really find it anywhere. Her big break was Born To Die. Then Paradise EP, Ultraviolence, Honeymoon, Lust For Life, NFR, Chemtrails! She also put out Sirens and went by May Jailer then and way back in the day she had the EP, Young Like Me, but hardly anyone knows about that. This is the link for all the Unreleased music, demos, snippets. It's in lossless, highest quality, a fan named Max runs it. This is every song that's ever been found. It takes forever to download all the songs but it's worth it! Every time something else is released like new demos or instrumentals, Max updates it. I've had this collection for over a year and still haven't heard everything! This is passed fan to fan so share it to those who will love it! thatvenicebitch.wixsite.com/missdaytona

she starts honeymoon saying "we both know thats not fashionable to love me" as a reference to the way media portrayed her at that time. She also said that honeymoon as a concept is the dream, a goal to be achieved in life, so the album is pretty much about her life and career at that point. 'Cause she was succeeded critically with ultraviolence and in numbers with born to die. Great reaction! this era definitely deserves more love!!

I read somewhere that Terrence Loves You was about the relationship between David Bowie and his brother, Terrence, who died young because of suicide. They had a complicated relationship due to mental health struggles and fame, but both loved music, and Terrence got David Bowie into jazz. That's why she sings "Ground control to Major Tom" which is a shout out to a Bowie's song, that he wrote for Terrence.

Honeymoon is her best album, but I personally think it shares the spot with NFR just-just coming in behind it; Honeymoon is the most "Lana del Rey" album, almost the amalgamation of the best of all the albums that went before, and NFR is "Lizzie Grant" grown up, "Elizabeth," with half the "Lana" hair cut off, relaxed in jeans and just dealing with being her aside from "Lana," where she's at now (at that stage) and seeing where she'll go next with "Lana" and even "Lizzie".

This has probably been the most hated album by her fans so far, but it was a turning point for her career. This album was her first album that got fairly positive reviews by critics (although there was still a hate train going on, cause of the themes she covers in her songs). At first I wasn't crazy about the singles, but once I heard the entire album it became my absolute favourite album of hers, and one of my all time favourite album. It just felt like a beautiful transition for her career, going from a really dark sound (Ultraviolence), to a new somewhat positive view of life (Lust for life). Her most timeless record for sure. Very cool review of an amazing, underrated album. There is a relatively small cult of Lana fans who have HM as their favourite album, but along with Lust For Life, it seems to be down the bottom of a lot of people's lists. One note - don't believe it when people tell you Terrence Loves You is about David Bowie's brother - that was a fan theory, and not only has Lana never confirmed or even hinted at it, the lyrics don't make any sense when making it about him (and also, he was never really referred to as Terrence).

@@bennshouts I loveee Norman too but it is so overrated in fandom. People say it's her best which discredits honeymoon and ultraviolence. Honeymoon is just pure ART.

If you like hip hop/trap sounds, you should hear lust for life or born to die. and if you want a 70s rock type of sound, then you should listen to UV-which is one one my favs lol

Definitely her best album, lyrics, melodies, production. I love NFR but it was just judged better by the critics because NFR is softer to listen than Honeymoon.
