My favourite player. For Benny Elias I supported Balmain Tigers and The Mighty Blues and named my first born son Elias to remember this bloke. What a great player he was. You are a legend Benny.

Benny…one of the greats. Still remember my dad coming home from referring Holy Cross Ryde saying he’d just seen a hooker with the fastest feet he’d ever seen. He said he was lightening striking for the ball in a scrum and controlled every aspect of the game. He predicted that day that that kid would be a great. He was right. Enjoyed watching he go from school boy sensation (against my brother) to league legend.

He certainly was a great player. As a Queenslander and Broncos fan, I used to hate him, but only because he was so good and such a threat. I remember cheering him on when he played for Australia, particularly that Ashes series in England where he starred. A great player

Hated him as a kid, that was because he was so good. He played for the opposition. Great runner, kicker, could do anything

True what you say, and at the time there was an underlying antipathy towards him as he was Lebanese, which I knew but did not recognize as I saw him as a white boy but saw when I lived in Sydney. He overcame all that and now is seen for the skills he had.

The game is more fun with a few villains. Benny was certainly one of those to Queensalnders and Souths fans in particular.

This fella was tough as they come! Absolutely fantastic footballer... I talk about "footballers", they are a rare breed... in the 80s we were blessed to watch multiple players who played "football", not Rugby League... there's a difference.

So humble, watch the match, Benny and blocker bust there backsides to get the ball back after Ricky’s cockup, pure gold ,Ricky then makes the break, thankyou for that unimaginable effort, cheers

There is no denying Elias's cunning and craft on a field . Played his best in NSW jersey

Elias revolushised the role of hooker. Really was as crafty as the best half-back in the world at the time, Ricky Stuart.

I would pay to watch him play time and time again,no question. He was such a professional at his craft who relished the big game atmosphere. He's one of the best dummy halves to ever play the game in my opinion.

Ben is the only reason why I loved balmain tigers till am I die hard of west tigers. I can name some of my favorites. Benny Elias, Paul Sironen, Steve Roach, Wayne Pierce, Gary Belcher. I LOVE THE TIGERS. ITS ALMOST AMAGING TO HAVE MY COUNTRY MAN, J OLAM playing for the west tigers. ❤

That's a big call , considering the insane amount of legends that wore the Tiger jersey, but I wouldn't argue, Benny is one of the Greats.
