agree, benny hill was the king of "slapstick" comedy. There are some very clever comedians around today but they have changed along with society and its mostly about bad taste. Benny hill was very near the mark but never went too far with sketches or language which made it all the better as a "family" to enjoy together on a sat/Sunday evening. Greatly missed.

Here in France the Benny Hill Show was extremely popular for sure. Maybe not the early years but in the 80ies it definitely was. Back in those days, we only had 4 channels, we all watched the (only) TV all together in family, he brought laughter to all of us. Something that doest exist anymore, we have more TVs in the house, more channels, more online entertainment, kids don't watch the same stuff as their parents....
