A subtle homage to Chaplin: One cannot imagine this film without the music. The 6/8 times signature is perfect! Rachael Portman is a genius at orchestration. She takes over the mantel of such past great soundtrack composers as Bernard Hermann. She also has a gift for melody. There is also a touch of Chaplin's music here. And Portman catches Depp's movements in a very sensitive way. After all - Johnny Depp - does pantomime exclusively in this film.

This song makes me feel like im back in the 1950´s, im in the spotlight of the circus wearing a nice vintage dress shirt with baggy overalls and a nice brown jacket. But the best part is im just sitting there on the floor humming, drawing with old paper and a broken pencil and nobody else is there.
