The first time I heard this song, my boyfriend and I were at the homecoming dance at our school. He was 15 and I was 13. He whispered in my ear that he loved me and was going to marry me….44 yrs later, we are still together and will celebrate our 39th anniversary this year…. And I am proud to say, when my daughter married in 2019, this was the song she and my son in law danced to as their first dance as husband and wife.❤️

Interestingly enough, even while I WAS a teen in the 80s, I knew it was special. I recall being really grateful I was coming of age in the 80s and not before or after (even tho obviously I couldn't see into the future! lol.) And I was right. The vibe of the decade, the music, the toys, even some of the hair & clothing styles, and other societal aspects have either endured, or they are longed for. In a way that other decades cannot precisely claim... Man it was so awesome.

That soooonnnggg ! Man, he was so talented. It makes my heart sink. I was 20 in 1980. a child in the 60's, a teen in the70's and in my 20's in the 80's. No cell phones, hardly any internet that I can remember back then, regular 30 minute tv shows, so you run and do chores during the commercials, and not recorded, so ppl would stay home for certain shows. One phone in the kitchen, no privacy, every one knew what was going on w ea other cause we also all ate dinner together that my mom made! Wow, lol. Those days are over, kind of sad now that I think back about things won't be the same again.

@@adamweston4152 yes adam. today i said a nice hello to a walmart employee in the petfood aisle. he made no eye contact and had no verbal reply. He was in front of items I needed and didnt move out of my way or offer to help. I said excuse me while I reached for what I needed. I also said thank you and have a good day. no responce or eye contact again. he also had wire earplugs in and was looking at and fingering his cell ph the entire time. wasnt stocking, even though he had items to stock. oh well, so much for that. i live alone, so these small interactions are some of the only human contact that can occur in a day. but its his problem not mine. its just sad that it happens a lot these days. So, ... I hope that You truly do have a great day. 😀

yes, the things that were, when people were considerate, thoughtful, respectful, caring, and not self-centred. When life was fun and people were fun, we were not subjected to filth on our TV screens with potty language. The cost of living was fair to our paypacket. People spoke to each other and took the time to write a letter to someone or picked up the home phone to say hello, how are you. When you would go next door to see your neighbour and sit and have a coffee and a chat. Yes, the things that were that as a lucky generation we experienced those wonderful times, and I have no doubt, you miss them as much as I do.

The summer of ‘80 . . . my best friend Shannon and I spent the summer working in his dad’s body shop, building and installing engines in the hot cars his dad built and painted. We were both 15 then. We got to drive all those cars and trucks all summer, often picking up my girlfriend Gina, sipping beers and toking an occasional joint, while this played on the radio about every 1/2 hour. We all moved on after that. Gina moved to another state, Shannon’s life was tragically ended by a drunk driver in’85. I’m 60 now, but any time I hear this song, it takes me back to that summer. A summer I’ll never forget.

Kids today have no clue what REAL music is. I was born in the 70s and grew up through the 80s and graduated from high school in early 90s and in all honesty I prefer the older more classic music over the newer music. Its real and its raw which is why I love it so. Don't get me wrong I do listen to the newer stuff too because music is my first love but my go to is 60s, 70s and the 80s. I'm really proud to be Gen X because I know what real muscle cars and real music is so I'm blessed in this and I feel sad to know Gen Z has no real clue unless their parents taught them right and educated them in real Music and Muscle Cars. I'd give anything for music to go back to the 80s style and even some of the fashion but I wouldn't want to be a teenager all over again unless I could go back with what I know now, then maybe lol.

I say that in 1980 was a world apart from present day. I was there. Love was real back then. Teenagers back then new what love ment. They learned it from their parents.

Same here. Great times and great music in the 80's. Seems like 44 years have gone by in the blink of an eye.
