It's really not easy to get out of your comfort zone and record yourself struggling in another language, and for that, I respect you Benny! 🔥

I second this! Especially for a language like Korean, this was actually very fresh and encouraging. Amazing job benny!!

This is what i like about you benny! You show us literally every progress you made regardless of how much you’ve mastered the language

Well done Benny. I'm very impressed. The conversation flowed well. I can't speak to your pronunciation but this is a great achievement. I lived in Busan for a year, back in 2011, and barely got past the basics. Glad to see you back on the new language learning wagon. All the best.

Thank you! 😃 After a 10-year break, another Fi3M project was long overdue. Busan must have been amazing 13 years ago!!

Your videos are what got me into learning foreign languages. And learning languages has changed my life in so many positive ways. I think your Fluent in 3 months projects are what really got me to start studying my first foreign language too -- seeing how someone could make progress in a foreign language in a short time span. Thank you for all the inspiration! I hope to see more of these Fluent in 3 months progress videos!! They inspire me so much! :)

Great effort Benny. Not easy to push through conversations at this level in a language so different.

I'm really impressed, Benny! And believe in yourself, you did a great job with such a language after such a break. You helped me believe in myself, that I'm capable of learning languages (I started my journey with your FI3M challege like 9 years ago!), so please don't be so harsh with yourself. Have a good time in South America! :)

This is great! And as a language learner, it was super interesting. I think you should give yourself more credit. Sure you had many hesitations searching for words, but you generally found them and correctly understood the question. I hope to see you come back to Korean in future 🎉 Have fun in "handsome land" 😄 💜

This makes me want to learn Korean just to have her as a teacher! I know nothing about the language so can't speak to the mistakes but this is incredible progress after such a short period of time.

I really want to applaud you for uploading this! This is an authentic video of what it's like to learn a language. I feel like there is too much glorification about 'I speak 10 languages, watch me shock people with my fluent (language)' and to me that feels rather demotivating. Not everyone can learn every language easily. I struggled so much with Japanese but Romance languages to me are fairly easy - so I totally feel you as Japanese and Korean are so similar. Funnily enough you made me listen to some Korean learning videos again as I studied abroad there years ago and I'm really pleased that I've retained something - even though we're talking about just a few words. 😊 Enjoy Brazil it's one of my favorite countries in the world too and there is so much more to it than beaches 😄

I've taken Nyota's lessons for years beforehand, and I can attest to how hard she works to each specific student. She helped me a lot when I was in a difficult time couple of years back, and I will always be thankful to her for it.

I really like how your tutor doesn't look at you during the chat & maintains a slight smile throughout. Is this just for filming ( close personal space) or normal for Koreans ? If so, it's an incentive to learn Korean ( spot the introvert).

It is likely a cultural phenomenon; avoiding eye contact serves as a gesture of politeness.

Will we get a Korean edition Language Hack now?

Probably not. I have been trying to get Teach Yourself to expand the series, but because of how incredibly work-intensive the first 5 books are (compared to something much easier to scale to other languages like Olly's story series), it doesn't seem practical unfortunately. I'm glad I did the whole book publishing thing while I did, but I'll have to find other means to help people moving forward!
