Lift adventure in Leicester

Please note: Please don't attempt to copy what you see in this video without understanding of how to do it safely. I don't mean to sound bossy or tell people what to do. I just don't want people to get hurt. Just from watching my videos will not give you all the knowledge required to safely enter lift shafts.

The Second Car Park was Lee Circle Car Park. And its got history. It was the first of its kind in Europe, and housed the first Tesco store outside of London. It's sadly in a sorry state now, it is in a real need of restoration too. The lifts are pretty interesting, never knew the shaft extended up above Level 6, (probably as it was intended when built that there would be a landing above the 6th floor). The lifts were originally Furse Lifts and had the Dewhurst US89 buttons. The lifts in the North Tower (one without the stairs at the entrance) used to play up when my family used them, they would arrive on G, but the doors would refuse to open, get off at Level 1, send it back down and they opened normally. Used to happen without fail each time we used them. The lift doors were also painted depending on the Tower (North or South) When it was Tesco, they were Blue/Red. Then they painted the North Tower an orange-yellow, while the South Tower were not painted. But now there not painted at all, but the interiors of the lift cars are the same. My dad, who works for ILE, MAY have programmed the machinery that cut out the doors for those lifts when they were recently renovated. Sorry about the long post, bit of a nerd with this building.

The second lifts voice I've heard at castle mall Norwich originally kone but modernised by thysenkurrup one day I went I knew they were different they are now terrible nearly every time I go one is out of service

The factory is still in Leicester, now an Otis one. By the way the lifts in the second car park - was that Lee Circle car park? If so the reason they go to an "extra" floor is that there are two car park circuits with one now permanently closed.

Yup, that's Lee Circle, Thing is, on the 6th floor, there is only stairs up to the "7th floor" of the car park and no landing for the lifts.

OTIS is american acording to wikipidiea & i was told otis gave abbey lifts all there money and they reduced the wages to about $50 depeding on the size and otis did it to abbeyifts to get them bk in productions as i looked on the website & it had noting but the history and no reations to what i was told
