I got this during the sale in December but this video helped in me finally feeling comfortable to use the dry mixes to do my own processing rather than the out of box presets, thanks!

Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I've just gotten back to more serious home studio work, and hadn't used BFD since 1.5. I upgraded to BFD3 and have been starting to get my arms around it. This topic was exactly what I was needing the most help with, and your video was perfect. Thorough but concise and very clear. I'll be referring to this often in the next few days and weeks as I get acclimated. Thanks again for the great content!

thanks dude. in case you didn't open the description of the video, there are timecode markers in there so you can skip to the sections you need to reference.

BenoniStudio I hadn’t, and that is even better! I was literally going to write down the section times! :-) Subscribed, for sure!!

Using bfd 2, assuming it's the same, I just rout each kit price and mic into a separate instrument chanel and there I can also add my daw plugins to each channel and mix it there, that way I can also still adjust settings in bfd at the same time if needed....

Great tutorial, man! Do you know how to set up the routing in FL Studio? I was able to set this up successfully in Pro Tools. However, I can't figure out how to set it up in FL Studio. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I always record into the DAW(Protools) through export inside BFD cause any drums VSTi are not phase aligned and It makes a huge difference when you align It. When I record into my DAW and make Phase Alignment with autoAligne plugin the drums gets more thick, befie and It gets muuuuch better, I really say Muuuuch better ! BTW great job Buddy ! Cheers !

This is cool stuff. I am now able to process drum sounds as I want to. and the best: This doesn't exclusively work in ProTools, but as well in other great DAWs. Those behave a little different, but the tricks you do inside BFD are recognized in ProTools as well as in others. I own licenses of two great DAWs, one of which is ProTools. I believe it is good to have at least two of such applications on your PC. (Some months later) I was trying to do what is demonstrated here with ProTools, in my other DAW, Cakewalk. Sonar by Bandlab. Somehow I am stuck. I do not get any outputs at all, everything ends up in the BFD mixer, the fx however, do not seem to have the least influence on the output. Even If I turn the knobs to the max and try alternatingly "Bypass / Active / Bypass..." absolutely NO change in sound. Of course, I am doing something wrong, but I have no clue what that might be.

Thank u...in Logic Pro X I am still trying to figure out how to record the outputs of BFD3 into a multitrack session In Logic....I think I can only bring them into auxiliary channels to process and mix.

Pro Tools is more friendly than LOGIC I learned to use Logic +Pro Tools as needed. Much easier to do what is suggested in this video in Pro tools then export to Logic as audio if you wish.

Could you move the mouse cursor slowly - it's impossible to follow your movements.

I use a IMAC and sadly enough mixing within bfd within logic is too resource intensive. Fader and dial movements are herky jerky, a big lag. So I do break them all out in logic. And it works wonderfully.
@jcshirke5 жыл бұрын
As a Logic user, could you explain what you mean?
@carlpanco74175 жыл бұрын
@@jcshirke yeah so in logic you hit a couple buttons and BFD breaks put a bunch of faders, that are assigned to BFD only. And then in BFD you can assign drums to those faders. And not just the drum but the individual mics. Bass drum in on one fader, bass drum out on another. Snare bottom mic, snare top 1, snare top 2, so on and so forth.

Mad Musicologist do the outputs show mono 1 mono 2 etc? Are they routed properly in your daw?
@zinzermunch3 жыл бұрын
Mad Musicologist, in Cakewalk go to Insert- Soft Synth- you get a window with a few options, there you need to tick on MIDI Source, Synth Track Folder and All Synth Audio Mono, then click okay. The very last track with a big MIDI 5 pin icon is the MIDI Source, drag it all the way to the top because there is where you record your MIDI, when your drums are ready to be mixed on the MIFI source track then you go to the BFD3 mixer and route each channel to all the channels that were created, after that you hit record on all those channels and your 20+ channels of MIDI wil nowl look like audio, now you can start adding EQ, Compression, etc to each separate part of the drumkit, kick in, kick out, snare top, snare bottom, etc.
