Just spend all day from 2pm - 2am doing this, however, I can say, it is 1000000000% worth the effort

I just did this mod to my FTO that I bought in the Summer of 2023, and it is worth mentioning that LanLan has made a few improvements. The triangular white pieces (time stamp 5:16) have been replaced by black ones that look even pointier, but are well designed. I didn't need to change anything about them. I did not find any irregularities on the sides of the pieces, like Ben did. Also, the springs on my puzzle are fine, I just kept them. So it seems to me that LanLan is improving their FTO step by step. Thanks, Ben, for uploading this video. Very helpful. Now I just need to figure out where to keep the FTO, as the original packaging fell apart when I first opened it. Keep working on it, LanLan!

Planning to start a 'dream cubes' solidworks build series on my channel, and now FTO seems like a nice idea for a future episode. (currently designing a speed-3x3x2). However would need to start getting into the event to understand all the problems, before going to fix them, and I do mostly big cubes and don't want to divide my time to too many events. FTO looks like a 2 shell/layered mech.

Truly I wish for this to be a WCA event so that commpanies will make speedcube versions from the factory.

The Yuxin Little Magic has washers and soft springs, might be a good source for those
@ZonalJump974 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but you would need two to get the springs and washers for it; and even then, would they fit?

Can u upload high quality pictures of the parts?

Awsome, I am working on improve mine, the corner cutting (so far did only partially what you showed on video regarding modify the pieces). Really agree with you, the strong springs makes the puzzle sticky even with the fastes lube and I intend to change them for softer ones, specially because I went a bit farther and magnetized mine too. Also, I still want to improve the reverse corner cutting too. Thanks for all the hints

What if the core of an KO FTO broke?The screw fell off and cannot be screwed back!
@puzzlebuilding1014 жыл бұрын
Springs from a pen? XD I would personally prefer strong springs, looser setting and lube to slow it down. gives me an insane amount of control ;) What fine grit sandpaper did you use? even 220 grit gives stronger friction during turns. Wait a second, is the FTO a shape mod of a master skewb? The cores look identical! Great tutorial, if I ever going to mod one of these i will use what i now learned as a reference :)

As far as the master skewb and fto, mechanicaly speaking yes they are very similar the only difference is a way that 4 corners are allowed inside.

FTO is a shape mod of the rex cube.

Are these optional? Plastic baggy, Rubik’s cube, sand paper, paper towel, goo gone, plastic razor, packing tape, and Apoxie sculpt. If I don’t have any of these, will I really need them?
@benpuzzles4 жыл бұрын
No, but here's a quick tip: get a little bit of packing tape, and...tada!

Just bought one. How do you disassemble it? It's so tight ootb I have no idea where to even start?
@benpuzzles2 жыл бұрын
Triangles are the easiest pieces to remove. If you turn a layer 30 degrees, you can push upwards from underneath on a triangle to pop it out. The rest of the parts can then be disassembled from there.

Do you recommend spring swapping it? If so, which springs do you think work well?
@benpuzzles3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I state this in the video during the setup part. Also check the links in the description!

I just got a LanLan puzzle and was shocked at how rough it turns out of the box. After I learn how to solve it, I’ll have to go down this path of fixing it

Would a washer with a 5mm diameter work? (The cubicle has some for pretty cheap, so just wondering)
@Jasper_4444 Жыл бұрын
Maybe. But the _inner_ diameter is what's crucial. Because they have to fit around the screws and still turn freely.
