1st Woot Woot! I just purchased an Optoma HD143X last month to replace my HD26 that has a damaged color wheel, very happy so far, even though only 1080p.

Hey Unkyjoe's Playhouse, thanks again for watching and sharing. The 143X is a pretty popular one. Do you have similar issues with the color wheel as in the high pitched sound it produced on the 144 model that I tested?

While this is an older thread, some of the old stock is still around: I own a HD144x and is is super quiet in eco mode. Not sure what the difference between the 143 and 144 is, but at least my system is so quiet that I can not hear it in quite moments at all.

@@nixonantony2562 no problem with noise to me. actually mine is pretty quiet. I don't even notice it. Love the colors and brightness too

The Meg is blown out on my OLED anyway. It's just a weirdly mastered image on that 4k disc.

Hey Bright, thanks for watching. I believe the input lag is somewhere around 40-45ms so I would not recommend this for pro gamers. I see myself more as a "casual gamer" though and I have no issues with lag while playing games on this projector. In other words, I don't notice it.

Hey GaB Co, thanks for watching. As for this projector your options are mini jack (analog) or use an HDMI receiver. If you want to use bluetooth speakers, I would suggest to pair them on the host device (PC, shield etc).

Hej, i got BenQ TK800M and i can not use my HDR option. It was gray for me. Do you know why? And also i connected the 4K HDMI cable on the port one on the projector but when it autodetected, it was showing on the HDMI 2 instead of 1. Im pretty sure i everything right but somehow i got this issues. Do you have any theories?

Hey, I have a little question: I just bought this projector and I have a problem. I don't know if you had the same: When the projector is displaying white near black, some blue halo appear (we can also see it on photos and my whole family see it even on not moving images). Is it a problem from my projector or is it present in all TK800M projectors) ? Thank you and have a good day !

Hey leomelki, thanks for watching. It looks to me like you're talking about the rainbow effect (this is caused by the color wheel) and unfortunately all DLP projectors do suffer from this. Before this projector, I tested the Optoma HD144X which was far worse on the rainbow effect. Can you take a picture of it please?

The Hd143x is a beast. I would avoid any other brand as when the bulb blows and you get the bill you will regret not staying with optima

Unable to decide between the BenQ TK800M / W1720 / Epson TW7000 / Optoma UHD 35 in the range of + - 1000 euros for a living room with some amount of ambient light (darker with blackout curtains), projection distance from lens to screen of 331 cms on a white wall of 250 cms width. Will be using it mostly for movies/TV series and some occasional gaming (Nintendo Switch) and if there is 3D capability as well, that's great. Color accuracy and black levels is more important to me (yes, given that I'm not using an ALR screen and projecting on a wall but still looking for something with better contrast, taking this into consideration. Perhaps at some point in the future I will be able to set it up with a screen to get a better image) Please help! Need to make a choice this week If there's any other projector you might recommend (Acer 550BD (out of stock at the moment) Viewsonic etc in the similar price range, don't hesitate to suggest them please. Thank you :)

Hey Jonathan Mebane, I assume you mean the HZ39HDR? I haven't seen that projector in action myself. I suggest you find a store where you can actually compare some. Recently I switched from the TK800M to an Epson TW7400 and I know it's a different price point but there are some downsides on "cheaper" projectors like the 800M or the HZ39 being: - Noise level - Contrast - Color accuracy - Rainbow effect if you choose to go with a DLP projector. If you intend to use the projector for watching movies, I strongly suggest to go with one that is silent, has good black levels (high contrast ratio), covers at least 100% of the REC709 standard and if this will be your first projector then make sure you are not sensitive for the rainbow effect if you choose a DLP.

I’m not sure if you missed how long it takes to power on. Maybe mines is defective. For my cheap Fangor projector it powers on instantly, but with the BenQ Tk800m it takes 1min is that normal?

The HDR washout he mentions is gone when you correctly calibrate the TK800M. Night and day difference - it just isn't colour accurate out of the box

I also would love somewhere to calibrate mine.. i can copy settings :D Ive noticed some movies, youtube etc work perfectly but others, like playing certain games look horrible. I do have mine connected directly to my pc with a 3070 though.

Hey josaph cj7, thanks for watching. Well technically it's quad full HD due to the pixel shift but yes, it does 4K @ 60Hz if the source supports it.

Very good presentation and informative but...I must comment on your viewing room. Acoustically it's an echo chamber, try some acoustic foam on the walls and on the ceiling around the projector, it will absorb some of the fan noise as well as improve the overall sound quality of your movie experience.. Next, the color of your walls. way too bright. Even at night the light coming off the screen is lighting up the room. No wonder your blacks are grey. Paint the walls and ceiling a shade of grey. get serious about your room. Otherwise I really liked your video.

He stated the blacks are grey during the day but amazing at night because he was using the wrong picture mode during the day. During the day he needed to use Vivid mode because it’s a little brighter and the settings are different for the color and there wasn’t much light. But if he’s trying to watch it with more light coming in he needed to use Bright mode. He used cinema mode when that mode is meant for dark and no light so that’s why the blacks were grey during the day. He used the wrong mode during the day and even in the manual it states what each mode is used for. Other then that it’s an amazing projector when you know how to use the settings properly.

Is that a 10 meter 2.1 HDMI cable? If not ur not running 120hz at 4k. Or not even 4k at all.

Hey asddasasdful, No this is a 2.0 cable, but a fiber optic one. I've tried different standard copper cables but they didn't work with the length and resolution. This one does and is driving my new TW7400 projector which I got after this TK800M perfectly fine as well. Ps, the link is in the description if you want to check it out.

Hey SquidkidMega, thanks for watching. Sometimes it's visible but not severe. Every DLP projector suffers from this though. On the HD144X I tested before the BenQ, it was much more visible

No it’s does not use an actual 4k native resolutions since those are expensive chips. Benq TK800m is an affordable 4k because it uses pixel shifting. Basically it duplicates the image to give it a 4k resolution and honestly you can’t tell the difference when viewing native 4k and pixel shifting, but I know when I turned off pixel shifting (silence option) it shows a standard 1920x1080 and you can tell the difference between the pixel shifting because it just looks like a standard HD but when you put pixel shifting back on the image is amazing.

Why review a 4K product and only upload the footage in 1080p? This seems to be a recurring theme with these kinds of videos. Especially when the focus is on the detail levels, which simply won’t be accurately depicted in lower resolutions.
