I always assumed Slow Loris meant "slow chorus", as in, somewhere between a chorus and a slickback delay. So, it seems like a natural progression to increase the range, and add a 2nd delay.

Idk whether those old photos were thought out or not but they actually fit in quiet well considering the 'FLORIST' font on the pedal resembles so much, especially to those old newspapers' headlines. And you know the idea of a couple of dudes from 1900s cooking up a lofi pedal is actually hilarious

I really thought the slow focus was cool, but wasn't really a perfect fit in my rig. I think the florist takes all I liked about the loris and takes it to 11. Really need to try one out

I liked that it easily went from too weird to not that weird.

making it go all the way from not that weird to way too weird was actually a goal of ours while we were designing it.

Love this! I was saving up for a fairfield shallow water, now I am curious about how these two differ .. can you at all help?
@nonhumanaudio5 ай бұрын
there's definitely some similarities! the shallow water (which i absolutely love) lives more in the lo-fi realm and excels at really transforming your sound with a reactive low pass filter, the Florist uses a detector to create pitch modulation by changing the delay time microscopically, and with 2 differently structured detectors you can achieve some flanging and even phasing effects, in addition to dynamically driven chorus. so, while they both have reactive elements, the end result and the feel are very different.
@chrisjohnstone61645 ай бұрын
.. mm interesting.. would love to see a comparison video.. maybe with some other similar pedals to help define the differences .. 🤔

nope! it was actually a total coincidence, we kind of mashed Flanger and Chorus together to get Florist, and it wasn't until way after we decided that we even realized Loris was in the middle.

I saw this used in a guitar demo, and wasn't really impressed. But with the Harp, it's sound is much more pleasing, IMO. This has happened a lot in the history of effects, e.g. the Univibe was originally meant for Organists, to emulate a rotating speaker.
