These things started out as rebranded bread makers, now they are even bigger boxes, so widget makers put some more thought into it, but it seems like a solution to a problem that doesnt exist... the price is insane compared to a garden composter bin thingy, or make your own composter station getting the help of worms etc.

Garden compost bin = work and hassle, with this you pay the price of electricity and starting culture and just keep adding daily after your meal with left over next to your sink. No smell and no mess, no need garden space and all the hassle of bugs and smell with garden compost. Does it justify the price tag.....no, not to me anyway but don't forget and new tech is always expensive to begin with like the very first electric cars. I am sure some one will buy it with their loose change for the convenience. I am pretty sure my local council so say no to garden composting meat, with this machine you just throw everything in.

Sure, there are other options. As a person who has an outside composter, a vermicomposter, I’m still going to get the system to complement my other systems. You can actually take the compost from this and feed it to your worms for further processing. I like it better than Bokashi even though similar, because now I can process all the things that they tell you not to put into your compost. As far as the bovine bones that they tell you not to use, because you can use chicken bones and smaller bones inside of this unit, cook those and make bonemeal for my garden
